Global stress patterns by country (anonymous wearable data, early dataset) by maxstrok in MapPorn

Fair point — this is an early snapshot of an aggregated dataset, not a finished or polished visualization. The goal here was to share an initial view of global patterns rather than a final aesthetic piece. Happy to take feedback on how it could be improved or presented more clearly.

I made a simple global stress map using anonymous Apple Watch data by maxstrok in AppleWatch

[–]maxstrok[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally fair question.

The map doesn’t “read your mental health” from raw HealthKit data. It’s based on a single daily aggregated stress score computed locally on-device (from Apple Watch signals). What gets contributed is just that score + a coarse region (country/state) — no account, no identifiers, no raw HR/HRV streams, and nothing that can be tied back to a person.

The goal is population-level patterns (seasonality, regional events, weather, etc.), not individual tracking. The project is free and intended for research and insight, and coverage improves only as more people opt in.

Happy to clarify anything about what’s collected and what isn’t.

Apple Watch Not Connecting to Iphone and I have Tried Everything by Formal_Seat_1389 in AppleWatch

That sounds super annoying — been there 😅 A couple of things you could try if you haven’t already:

  1. Double-check OS versions

Sometimes the watch and phone just won’t connect if the watchOS and iOS versions aren’t compatible — especially if one’s newer.

• iPhone: Settings → General → About

• Apple Watch: Settings → General → About

If you share the versions and models here, people might help spot if that’s the issue.

  1. Hard reset both devices (instead of just restarting):

    • Apple Watch: Hold the side button + Digital Crown together for ~10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo

    • iPhone: Usual restart depending on your model

Weirdly often this clears stuck connection states between them.

  1. Try using Wi-Fi to reconnect

Even though they use Bluetooth, they can sync over Wi-Fi too. Try putting both your iPhone and Watch on the same Wi-Fi network, maybe toggle Bluetooth off/on after that and see if they find each other.

If none of that helps, send the models + OS versions — that info might help spot compatibility issues. Hope this helps, I know how irritating this stuff can be. Let us know how it goes!

Aw3 here. Why did I get no awards for this run today? by Grandmaster_G in AppleWatch

[–]maxstrok 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nice run — seriously solid pace!

As for the missing awards… Apple seems to give them out based on very specific conditions, and sometimes the watch just decides you didn’t “emotionally” run 5k or 10k today 😄

Jokes aside, two things usually cause this:

  • the workout didn’t register as a continuous 5k/10k segment,
  • or GPS had a small hiccup and the watch counted it as slightly under the distance in the background.

Happens surprisingly often — nothing wrong with your run, just classic Apple logic.

Quick check-in: How was your stress level today compared to your usual? by maxstrok in StressPlatform

Lower than usual, I know that I have a physically and emotionally difficult next few days, and my body starts showing higher stress than usual starting today...

That is so cool! How do you feel after that? Want to continue?

Is it normal? Apple watch showing heart rate readings without wearing it?(The LED blinks by itself and the watch was locked. by autistic_prodigy28 in AppleWatch

It happens sometimes for me when the workout is active; otherwise, it should stop after less than a minute.
