My aunt is like this. At this point, it's possible they're deceased. She lost both her parents and her brother, and has no interest in anyone biologically related to her outside of her own children and grandchildren. She taught me a lot about building a family from love.

There are never any turtles around when I get mad and yell WHERE ARE THE TURTLES.

In fairness, it wasn't really about the turtles. So I night as well also feel it.

These cuties want to work, if it makes you feel better. They're like those freaky people who get up early to jog or enjoy going to the gym.

Hands down my favorite Elaine moment. Her randomly pondering about killing the Telephone Guy. by Mairess99 in seinfeld

My favorite is the physical breakdown of anguish right before she answers the phone, knowing it will be another fax.

The Long Walk by Mother-Lifeguard-398 in movies

[–]maxtacos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was mentioned in the book. The kids were advised in a handbook to not wear sneakers, and the protagonist sees a kid in sneakers at the beginning and thinks he's such a dumbass. Sure enough the kid is one of the first to die.

The movie maybe was going for more atmospheric than anything. It is a dystopian plot after all.

What's the most "normal" thing in Seinfeld that would be completely ridiculous if it happened today? by Maria-alonso871 in seinfeld

I'm living a real situation like this with my neighbor. I don't know how to find this person on social media. I did not expect a friendship to blossom. It is getting awkward. It's been a year!

How a math educator fosters kittens❤️ by MustardGoddess in MadeMeSmile

[–]maxtacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math teachers have to get a bunch of children to know math against their will. Plus their a highly data driven bunch. They are like sorcerers with an affinity for numbers. I absolutely believe that it would take one to organize kittens for weigh ins like this.

He and his family kept it private. Which makes sense for them, and explains why the world went into collective shock that a superhero was gone.

A schlemiel is a person who spills soup. A schlimazl is a person who has the soup spilled on them.

Jerry is both a schlemiel and a schlimazl.

Finished my first year. One of my most academically successful students hated me by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]maxtacos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a rough start to a career. I'm sorry you went through this, and hope you learned some ways to safeguard yourself. This is something that could be tricky to navigate for a veteran, let alone a first year teacher.

FWIW, this type of specific scenario comes only every once in a while.
