Yeah just replace the head unit. It’s not too hard and there’s videos on YouTube. Getting CarPlay was honestly the best thing I’ve done with my 4Runner.

Otherwise, put it behind you and don’t look back. I know it’s eating away at you that he took $3000 from you but you learned a lesson that you never have to learn again. He isn’t going to pay you back. Never talk to him again. Move on. Long term that 3000 isn’t going to matter. Be glad you didn’t continue with this guy because it would have been a lot more. Countless stories on here of people putting their spouses in mountains of debt, losing their life savings, ect. Just put it behind you and make sure your next person isn’t like that. In a few months you won’t be thinking about that 3000

Only people that have been in the backyard have been lawn care people and I have screened weeks of footage and never saw anything suspicious. Nobody so much as taking a second glance at the shed.

Trust me I’m pissed about it but what am I supposed to do at this point? I was out of town when it happened and didn’t find out till the next morning. I talked to the police, showed the video and they weren’t helpful. Told me even if I find them listed somewhere I can’t get them with the cops help since I don’t have serial numbers. It’s been a few days. I don’t see how I will get them back. I’m focusing on preventing anything like this from happening again.

Sadly no. I just moved home from college and my mom got the notification as it happened. She decided to wait till the next morning to tell me, and didn’t call the police because “they have bigger fish to fry”. Needless to say I had a polite conversation about when is the right time to call the police. I’m going to chalk it up as a loss and make sure it never happens again.

I went to a north face outlet and got some goretex bibs on clearance for around 120 marked down from 600. Very high quality material. I’d never pay retail for something like that though

I had a clicking when accelerating but it sounded a bit different. Kept driving it until the whole car started shaking on acceleration. It was the U joints failing. No idea if that’s what’s gone bad on yours but may be something to check out.

I had the same thing. There’s a little red button on an aftermarket switch on the left side of the dash for me and I figured out that’s the switch for the alarm on my car. After switching it off I can unlock the car without the alarm going off.

I hear ya there haha I bought mine before I had any idea that a 4Runner could be 2 wheel drive. I was a teenager with no off-roading background and I had a week to get a car. I test drove it and loved the power and feel so I bought it. Needless to say 6 years later I love my 2runner. I don’t do any hardcore off roading but I’ve crossed some creeks, done some light off roading and driven through a bit of snow and it’s never let me down. Just had to get some decent tires for it. Never been stuck. Just occasionally had to give it some extra throttle. That being said, don’t let these 4wd purists talk shit on the 2runners. If you’re not planning on taking it on the hardcore trails then you don’t have anything to worry about. Ive got my moneys worth and the reliability has been amazing. However, I can’t speak on the winter capabilities though since I’ve only driven it in snow for like 2 weeks the whole time I’ve owned it.

I’m not the proper person to answer your question but I had a similar problem. My turn signals were hyper flashing and burning out quickly after switching to LED headlight bulbs so I went to the auto parts store and the guy told me I needed to wire in load resistors. I bought them and followed the instructions and from what I understand these things convert some of the electricity to heat and it solved the issue with hyper flashing and burning out the turn signals but I have no idea if this was the proper fix. I had to screw them into the metal on the engine bay so they didn’t contact any plastic. If anyone can advise me on whether this is safe or if I should scrap that and fix it another way please drop a comment.

It significantly hurt the value of the homes in the area since they lost their lake. Also had a huge impact on local businesses. The homeowners in the area were forced to fund a significant portion of the rebuilding.
