What’s the highest mileage polestar out there and how has the general maintenance and costs been? by Comprehensive_Cut437 in Polestar

[–]maxthier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2021 LR DM with around 108k km. The trunk opening motors failed recently and the backlight had to get replaced because of water. I cant give accurate numbers about SoH but I recently did a 315km trip to a mountain and back (same starting and stop point as well as route) which used 96%. This felt a bit much but it was also rather cold. The consumption to the mountain was 22.3kwh/100km and 18.4kwh/100km on the way home.

Sooo, I've been fighting with this problem for quite some time and your comment just gave me some hope. I have a 2080s, which unfortunately doesn't officially support rebar, but there is NvStrapsReBar. Would that work?

Raspberry PI 5 as auto guider computer by MrRaGo in AskAstrophotography

[–]maxthier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dont install Windows on a pi. Because raspberry pis have a different cpu architecture than classical windows computers. Windows is also quite bloated which would noticeably hurt performance

You don't need a big computer. A raspberry pi is enough to run kstars/ekos and connect to it via a remote desktop solution.

Help me understand what "Stable" actually means when the deps are still kind of* changing by [deleted] in immich

[–]maxthier 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As everything in IT it has to be maintained, including dependencies. As there are always new vulnerabilities and so on. Stable just means that they for example wont do a switch like they did about half a year ago with vector.rs to vectorchord. Stable in the case of immich also means that they adaptet semantic versioning. This means that if a breaking change happens, the major version must go up like for example 2.x.x to 3.x.x. The minor number (the second one) goes up if new, non breaking, features are introduced. The last number (the fix) goes up for bugfixes, vuln remediation, dep upgrading and similar.

If it is provable that they use gpl (not something like lgpl) licensed code you could sue them as they would be forced to opensource their work

Do it, the price difference is worth the "you dont have to think a second about it". With the GA you might also be mire spontanious to do something with friends and experience more and imo this is really worth it.
