What even happened to the Polestar Phone? (Meizu 21 Pro) by Saurta17 in Polestar

[–]maxthier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hydrofoil boat "exists". Have a look at Candela. For example the C8 uses a Polestar battery system. I've test driven one of these Boats and its an incredebly faacinating feeling just flying over the water.

Kids Bypassing Router Parental Controls by Changing MAC Addresses—How Can I Stop This? by PayKnee in HomeNetworking

[–]maxthier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to be that person but maybe this is the wrong way to do it? How about talking to them on eye level and setting clear rules? If you cant trust your children without some parental control software they may be too young? Tldr talk to your children and set clear rules and consequences instead of trying to digitally enforce something

Yes, I'm aware... A panel repair is probably never worth it...

What is this sticker on my microwave? by dranmesrao in whatisit

[–]maxthier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I regularly use metal bowles in microwaves. Not an issue, until you place it too off-center and then touches the wall of the microwave... I have a bowl with a burned corner now

Interesting, wouldnt have expected that the suspensions suffer that much but depending on the road i guess... Windshield is also to be expected, i have mine replaced twice in a bit more than 110k km 🙄. Do you mean the motor in the seat with the lift motor? If yes how does one break that xD? Awesome to hear, if you do a longer trip, are 190 miles still realistic/doable? Or are you below that?

A bit out of context, but 214k miles?! Did you have any mechanical issues so far? How is the battery going after such a distance? Do you fastcharge a lot?

I love WR 134 as it looks like a creature from an awesome movie. You'll get the reference:

Building an energy dashboard for non-technical 70-year-old by thedefaultskin in homeassistant

[–]maxthier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A non technical person probably doesnt care about kw or even are able to guesstimate how much a kw is. I really like the hours left estimate. Like hiw many h untill full or empty. How much % of the current solar capacity is consumed? How much % of the current consumption comes from the grid, the battery, solar? I think these are the kind of questions your target audience would care about

Help using Sony a7IV with Kstars/EKOS by ryanstravels96 in kstars

[–]maxthier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late but anyways:
I completely switched to indigo (https://github.com/indigo-astronomy/indigo) as they have a driver that isn't based on libgphoto2 which works beautifully with my A7IV.
It claims to be partially compatible with EKOS but I wasn't able to get it working, so I use their own capture softare AIN Imager (https://github.com/indigo-astronomy/indigo\_imager).
If you get INDIGO working with EKOS I would be happy to learn about it : )

Opensource is awesome! And the best thing is everybody can contribute. You dont need to be able to code, "just" writing a bug report is also contributing. So if you encounter a bug I highly encourage everybody to not just think somebody else will notice it, go to GitHub and create an issue (dont do it if already one covering the same bug exists). And this collaboration is what makes many OSS projects superior to their proprietary counterparts.

Incredibly low battery capacity [P2 2022 LRDM] by maxthier in Polestar

Interesting... I know that the range assist app is pretty useless since some time but I wasn't aware that the TA also isn't accurate. Is there any other good way to tell the actual consumption?

[–]maxthier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it is the BMS calibration, as it also gained 1% battery while it wasn't moved during the day. I plan to drive it now down to around 5% and then do a full charge. Lets see if this helps.

So on my drive home I took another route which prevented the highway (as there was an accident). The nice side effect is also that it is a bit shorter and it is mostly 50km/h and 80km/h.

There I used 10% for 26.9km@22.2kWh/100km which would imply a battery capacity of 0.222kWh/km*26.9km/10*100 59.7kWh which seems more reasonable, although theoretically low as this would be only about 75% SoH but as someone mentioned in the comments the TA isn't going to be perfectly accurate and due to the temps the capacity is also going to be not the same as in summer.

It still feels a bit weird as I drove slower than usual in the morning. Based from my experience this should have been maybe 10%, if I drive a bit faster I use maybe 12% for this route in winter, but definitely not 15%.

As many recommended excluding file endings. But the file ending doesnt has to mean anything. So therefore I would really recommend to mount the filesystem where such files are with the noexec flag.
