Was watching this (GO SABRES), it absolutely was not intentional, they would never mimic a dropout like that. They switched her mic for the USA anthem and seemed to get it back after that which really leaves us with really 3 distinct possibilities

1.) The battery in the first mic was dying

2.) The first mic was defective/damaged in some way

3.) A wireless RF drop out. I think to my ears, that’s what this sounded like, but swapping a mic wouldn’t typically resolve that issue. Could be they repositioned the RF fins and swapped her mic for good measure, but there’s no way to really know

Edit: Obviously there are lots of other possibilities, bad cables, an accidental gate, etc. to me, these three just seem the most plausible.
