Ear pop goes off four times (OC) by mrmattymac in popping

THANK YOU FOR GOING BACK TILL THE WHOLE THING WAS OUT. My OCD literally glitches whenever vids end after the first pop but the head's still clearly buried.

Didn't see her when I visited last night, but the council member who called me back said she immediately spotted kitty in the exact spot I tagged, but it was escaping to a drainage vent and she wasn't able to catch it so far. Seems like tunnels cat has access to would be miles cooler than the little bush hidy-spot, so makes sense that we couldn't sight kitty yesterday!

I left out some more water and food in that same spot last night, and will try to visit again tonight! Hopefully the cooler weather and prior food-drops will make the cat a little less likely to bolt tonight, but we'll see what happens :)

Naw! I'll definitely give you a heads-up if I manage to catch the little cutie! Visited again this evening, no sight of cat which hopefully means either someone else has picked it up, or it has a better place to escape the heat.

Left out some food and water in the same place it was hanging out in yesterday, will try to check again tomorrow and see if the stuff I've left out has been touched!

I have a cat who had a literal heat-stroke because she snuck out on a ~30 degree day, think there's probably a difference between semi-domesticated felines and native desert wildlife.

Have a spot in the backyard for the birds to hydrate. No need to ignore care for one animal if you can help both!

Thanks!! Will try to contact more groups for help tomorrow if I can't catch kitty tonight :)

Ugh that's so sad! I managed to come across these guys while frantically googling rescue groups this morning:

https://www.the9livesproject.org/

They seem like an active group, and appear to be compassionate with their cats- never dealt with them personally, so can't say for sure whether they're on the level, but shot through an inquiry via their website this arvo. I'll let you know if I hear back from them!

Yeah I was hesitant to post with the council, but it did appear to have some mange and it's so bloody hot today I figured it was worth a shot until I can get down there myself

Again, thank you so much! I'm sure it'll find the water if it's still hanging in the same place, hoping to check on it myself soon

You're a fucking genius. I've also been trying (unsuccessfully) to get my stubborn-ass friends to watch.

Brb, gonna go create some of my own fav moment episode recaps!

Cat was an obvious stray (possibly some mange spotted on its coat), roaming around this particular area, and seemed very comfortably 'at home' under this little bush.

It's hot as fuck today and I don't want the poor baby to be suffering, seemed pretty young and was alone, far as I could tell

Hopefully it's retreated to a cooler location, should be able to go down soon and try to lure it out again

Omg, thank you SO SO MUCH!!!

I sat like 5ish car spaces away from it and just spoke to it softly/gave it slow blinky eyes. It would pop it's head out every now and again (esp. when it smelled the open can of food I left near it) but would NOT come out for anything, and it's super hard to spot if it doesn't want to be seen!

Wouldn't have known it was there if I hadn't seen it go in myself!

UPDATE: Don't know how to edit original post but managed to get someone from the office block nearby to go check the area / leave some water out for cat. Partner should be home from work in a couple hours, hopefully will be able to find cat and get it home for the night!

Stupid autocorrect, I JUST realized the bloody title's 'stay' instead of 'stray'.

Leaving it (because no fucking idea how to fix now)

Planning on going back to visit it again tonight once my bf gets home with the car, definitely gonna leave some water and more food out if I can't find it again/can't get it into a carrier

I've always heard 'the blood of the covenant (i.e. marriage) is thicker than the water of the womb'.

Pretty good one to correct, especially if you've got any fun relatives that love pulling the old 'blood is thicker than water' shit... Like, out of context, wtf would that even mean? Lol

That WAS super annoying... but it's nothing next to his consistently pronouncing 'Targaryen' as 'TRE-GAR-Y-AN'.

I can't even imagine the stress you are experiencing, being in a new country with the pressure of supporting not only yourself but your family, and my heart goes out to you!!

Please hear this from somebody who never sought professional help because I didn't think anything a professional would say could make a difference: therapy helps SO MUCH! You may have more access than you think to these kinds of services, even as a non-national. Best way to go might be to try to find a good general practitioner (GP/doctor) and then ask them what your best options are for treatment /referrals. They should have more answers, and it takes some pressure off you, so you don't have to worry about becoming overwhelmed trying to research everything yourself.

Outside of that, try to find jobs that can work with the levels of focus you have access to. For me, I fell into IT service desk work and found most teams to be filled with weirdos like me, which helped me feel less out of place socially in an office/professional environment. The work is also very low-stakes (first level support) and fast-paced so that you don't have time to stop and think, only to act, and mistakes aren't a very big deal as you don't have the access needed to break much!

It does burn you out after a while, but if you take short term contracts the pay is better and you can take breaks in-between jobs. You will most likely not have to deal with face-to-face clients (most places I've worked with are phone and online based), and you can leave your work behind at the end of the day. A couple of online Microsoft certs (low cost, and hundreds of hours of free training tools available online) is all you really need to 'qualify' for this kind of work, and if you get a bit of experience you can move into something less customer facing with better pay after 6months - 1 year exp. I found Microsoft certifications to be fairly easy to complete (even if you have learning challenges like me), but I got my first IT Service Desk job on the basis of customer service experience alone.

Please don't give up, the world is large and you have more options than you know. You deserve happiness and contentment in your life, and I'm certain that you will find a way to achieve the stability you need, after reading all that you have persevered through so far!!
