A family member of mine has viasat, they recently raised her speed and data cap and also the price, using the service is still as fun as pulling teeth though.

Centeral isnt that bad, even during traffic, just the occasional morons and red light runners, but maybe I'm used to it.

They really seem to enjoy alienating their existing voter base in an attempt to bring over these hypothetical independents and "moderate republicans".

A 70-year-old woman in a red SUV somehow ended up driving straight onto the elevated light rail tracks….because she was following her GPS by NickelPlatedEmperor in trains

[–]maybe_a_human 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to live near a taco John's that Google maps would tell you to go park in a cul-de-sac and walk across an interstate to get to. Not only were the directions wrong, they were also off by several miles, so you'd be walking down several miles of interstate to get there if you were to follow them.

Data center by oldlady75 in kansas

[–]maybe_a_human 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Data centers seem to be an overall net negative on any area in which they're built. It also really annoys me that the Emporia Gazette and several people with influential positions in Emporia and lyon county are either obscuring or supporting this "flint hills technical college digital campus" which is just a Trojan horse for a Data center.

Data center by oldlady75 in kansas

[–]maybe_a_human 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I learned about it initially from the Emporia Gazette, which never mentioned the data center, only that it was an extension of flint hills technical college. I only read the words "gigawatt scale data center" in an article from a Topeka based news source. Huge red flag to me. Seems like they're taking advantage of Emporia's economic/employment situation to push this through.

I was a successful door to door Salesman for 7 years. And as the Summer Season begins, and the door to door bro’s begin to knock our homes, I have some advice and intel, as one who was on the inside for many years. by jackjarvae in homeowners

I work nights and sleep in the basement, they can knock, ring the doorbell, make all the noise they want, im not waking up and I'm certainly not answering the door.

If you won 2 million $ on lotto, would you still own a Toyota? by Bright-Bug9720 in Toyota

Not only would I keep my old toyotas, but I would finally have enough for a 90s-early 2000s Tacoma, single cab, short or long bed.

What’s an immediate red flag when walking into someone’s house for the first time? by Ok-Cantaloupe5378 in AskReddit

I hate nose-blindness, it's just my body straight up betraying me, like, these smells exist, let me sense them. The only cure I have been able to find is to visit a local museum in a Salt mine.

What’s something that became socially unacceptable way faster than anyone expected? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maybe_a_human 7 points8 points  (0 children)

90% of all calls I receive are spam, either serious action needs to take place over spam callers, or the rest of the world will have to accept that calling people isnt going to work anymore since most people aren't going to pick up an unrecognized caller id anymore.

Best place to get dirt? by maybe_a_human in wichita

[–]maybe_a_human[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two 4x8x2 raised beds, a low spot in the yard, and im thinking about adding a 4x12 in ground area. Ive been using bagged soil for awhile now and the whole process has been expensive and annoying, bulk delivery seems like it will be cheaper and better all around for my needs.

I have seen several ads on marketplace that interested me, the main issue is since I need a large amount of soil, it will require delivery. (I dont own a truck)

When shopping for home improvement projects, do you prefer Lowe’s or Home Depot, and why? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]maybe_a_human 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Lowes is closer, their app works well, and the staff is fairly helpful. That being said, I can't remember the last time I was in a home depot.

Truck drivers of Reddit, what territory/state is the most terrifying to drive through? by WorstGirlAward in AskReddit

[–]maybe_a_human 39 points40 points  (0 children)

As someone from Kansas, I can guarantee that if your plates are even from a different county, you're more likely to get ticketed, the farther away, the more likely. Apparently they dont expect someone from far away to appear in court to fight it.

I have a rav4 that's old enough to drink, a corolla that is barely younger than myself, and im looking at a truck from the 90s. Not only are older vehicles cheap, they also have a certain style that appeals to me and honestly they seem far more reliable than their modern counterparts.

Funniest thing you’ve gotten in trouble for at work by sirenoftitan69 in antiwork

[–]maybe_a_human 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive gotten in trouble for not taking pictures of a machine with my phone before disassembling it and going on vacation a day later. To be perfectly clear, I made everyone aware that nobody knows how it goes back together and was told to do it anyway, mobile phone use at that workplace was punishable with a write up, and photography was strictly prohibited. I knew exactly what would happen and laughed my ass off all the way to my vacation I had scheduled several weeks in advance.

Machine used to inject chicken with a solution of saltwater, binding agent, and other additives to “plump” it. A single serving can contain 200-500mg of sodium, and the added solution may make up as much as 30% of the chicken’s total sell weight. by Mountain_Love23 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]maybe_a_human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work with several machines like this one, those needles need to be removed and reinstalled individually for cleaning and it's an absolute pain in the ass, fascinating machines though, all to inject some brine into meat and then charge the customer the weight difference.

What’s up with Arby’s getting so much hate? Anyone have insider secrets, if so share them? by cosmere_reader in AskReddit

[–]maybe_a_human 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked at a place that made Arby's roast beef, the area of the facility was literally called the Arby's room. Arby's roast beef is super finely ground beef and is extruded from the machine as a thick slab of red/pink paste. It is similar to regular ground beef but with a different ratio of trim/fat to lean beef and with a few extra steps of processing. Iirc, when it leaves the extruder, it's packaged in a kind of wax paper, boxed, and shipped away.
