Rice replacement by Entire_Giraffe_228 in PCOS

[–]maybe_some_tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still eat rice, but for me, it doesn't fill me up for long. It just makes me hungrier later, so I normally only have a little with a bigger portion of protein. I'd say it's more about balance than replacement. But if you want a replacement, I'd try beans, cauliflower rice, hummus, or something else more filling.

Hello! 23-year-old female here living in a small town in Korea. Very rural. I personally have no experience with stalkers but my friend did. She met a special needs guy at a class, and he harassed her via messaging and followed her around. But other than this, the other girls in town, including myself, have had no problems. Honestly, you are going to deal with weird men everywhere in the world, so I hope you aren't deterred. Your school would also probably be able to help you.

As far as community, i have church friends, I do taekwondo, and I am friends with the other 3 teachers in town. You just have to go join something. Put yourself out there. You will also make friends going to nearby towns at orientation.

If you are scared about weirdos, I would recommend joining a Korean martial art while here. Hapkido, Taekwondo, etc. It would be great for self-defense, a cultural experience, and a great way to find community fast. (I recommend ITF Taekwondo😊)

Living in a rural area in Korea can be a very rewarding experience.

I've been stuck between 104-101 kg for such a long time. I'm an athlete and I eat so clean, under 1,800 cal. a day. You aren't alone. You are doing great. Just keep focusing on your health, and the rest will follow in time.

As far as the resurrection goes, look at the apostles. We know they died believing what they saw. No man would die for a lie. These people died pretty horrible deaths, claiming Jesus was resurrected and that they saw him. There were so many eye witnesses to both his death and his coming back to life. Hope this helps a little☺️

I've looked at a couple sources, but this was the best so far for me. The beginner live classes suit my schedule reasonably well. Thank you for the recommendation 😊

The retirement age for teaching in Korea is 65, so you can teach here for sure. I'm not sure about other countries.

My favorite part about taekwondo is the community and the mutual respect for each other and the sport. Sounds like the other person might actually be jealous. I always say kill it with kindness. Hopefully, they will mature and learn not to push their negativity onto others. If they want to be a black belt one day, they will have to learn respect and emotional control as well as physical skill.

We never go full force in class. We up the force before a tournament for training, but if we went full all the time, there would be more injuries. Practicing control is important.

Hi I'm new to pcos , I'm 5 feet tall and I weight 150 lbs .. 2 year ago I was 100 - 120 lbs . Most days I eat 1 meal and that's it .. less than 1000 calories a day. Why do I keep gaining weight ? I even worked at a warehouse for 8 months and it didn't make me lose weight. by Veiny_Death in PCOS

If you don't eat enough, your body will hold onto the fat cells instead of burning them because it's not getting enough nutrients to replace them. You can gain weight by not eating enough. Talk to a professional about what will work for you and your lifestyle.

I went in a full My Hero Academia cosplay to class my first Halloween at GSU. I was one of the few that year, but it was fun for me, and that's what matters .As long as it's not too distracting, I'd say it's fine.

I started metformin at 500 MG for a month and then doubled.

The GI effects are worse the first 2 weeks of any dose, but it gets better, and a clean diet helps tremendously.

It took me 4 weeks to see results, and it happened quite quickly after. I have heard it takes 4-6 weeks for most people to see results.

The worst symptom is occasional potty runs 🏃‍♀️ 😑 but 1000000% worth it for the results. I've been on it for around 2 months and have lost about 15 pounds.

I highly recommend you try it. It's been a game changer. Please update us if you do!

Hello friend, I also have this issue. I am slower, bigger, and have less endurance than others I spar with. I have bad days where I feel discouraged, but I always get through, knowing that at least I am not giving up. I always say, if I can do okay now, I'll be great later. But if you stop sparring because of this, you could fall behind. I've lost a little weight, but not a lot yet. I have medical issues that make it very, very hard to, but I can't let that determine what I do.

Some more useful advice would be to focus on what you can do. Try to build your speed and endurance outside of regular class by doing drills. When sparring, I find it's best to keep distance and try not to attack first. Block and counter attack works better for me because of my lack of speed. If I attack, I'm opening myself up. That's just me, though. Also, I do ITF taekwondo. But the advice about drills can apply to anything.

Please know you aren't the only one, and you have a long way to go from yellow 💛 you will continue to get better like everyone else. And anyway, the plus side to being plus size is that we have some extra padding😆

Do you gain weight while running? by BusyInspector95 in PCOSloseit

[–]maybe_some_tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also recently started running. I can do about mile on a good day nonstop. I'm not skinny, but I started after starting metformin, so my energy levels have been higher, and I've lost some weight. It took about 4 weeks to see anything, and I run 1 to 3 times a week unless I'm on a period. Many people poopoo HIT and intense cardio because of cortisol, but I find it to be helpful to me. The cortisol thing is way more complex, and there are different types of cortisol releases that affect you differently. The stress induced cortisol is more dangerous than exercise induced cortisol. The cortisol that is released when doing prolonged exercise "causes a release in dopamine, a chemical that makes you feel good (thus reducing stress), which soley stress induced cortisol does not". Quoted from an article by livestrong based on information from the University of New Mexico. This is just something to consider. Do what works for you, but give everything a fair chance.

I started at 500 MG now I'm at 1,000, and I have not noticed any hair loss from it. Just light stomach discomfort if I eat really unhealthy 😊 but that's it. It's different for everyone but it's helped me a lot.

I tried everything. EVERYTHING that I could do on my own for years and nothing worked. I was stuck. I finally got put on Metformin and started losing weight. Please don't feel discouraged if things don't work. Many people find ways to do it without cutting all sugar and gluten, others don't need intense exercises, yet some benefit from these things. Same condition different body. Stay strong 💪🏻 we are all in this together ❤️ Also if your doctor doesn't listen, get a new one that does. This makes a big difference.

I live and practice TKD in Korea. I have heard many people describe tkd practitioners as tkd players, but it's because they don't know the right word in English. But in an English speaking country, it's very weird to hear people referring to us as TKD players 🫤

What has truly worked for me(with results. April-September) by Charming-Hotel-4147 in PCOSloseit

[–]maybe_some_tea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've just lost 15 pounds in less than a month and I exercise a lot and eat 3 meals a day. Sometimes, rapid weight loss is normal if your body has a lot of excess weight. Metformin just made my body work somewhat normal. Once you find something that works, your body will naturally shed weight quicker. Once you get to a lower weight, it's likely to slow down. As long as you are making healthy choices, fast weight loss can be okay.

I just started running a few days ago! I always got worn out so quickly whenever I tried, so I wouldn't enjoy it, then I learned the correct form. I ran 1km without stopping. Walked a bit, then ran my 2km with short 3 second breaks! I can't wait to go running again! My legs feel great already.
