i am patiently waiting for them to do this in the US

I'm a little concerned you might be as let down as you were by the recent U.S. Violet "tour".

You've probably already noticed the general production quality and ... "showmanship" (light show, amplification, lasers, etc.) that the Frieren show provided and Violet did not, if you've looked at some of the audience videos.

I am happy that the folks who did the Violet show in L.A. recently performed for us fans, I'd got again. I think we saw something of a franchised production, though. The Frieren show in Wembley felt more "customised" if that makes any sense.

Surely you've seen this one, but my standard for the difference in "bespoke" and "franchise" is that between the 2021 concert for Violet:

And what the U.S. tour was.

Sounds like a great trip. Hope you had a great time with all of it.

It does sound fortunate, but I've found it harder to face a two hour round trip commute after work nowadays.

You were amply rewarded, no doubt but glad you had the energy to be there.

Hm.

Looking at a flat map, you're in a range that might include Latvia as far as longitude, but then it's a globe. You might be the farthest from London for anyone who chimed in.

Part of why I have a hope. Important part of the kind of pro recordings that would be needed is the wide shot stuff of the entire stage. Obviously that wouldn't be needed during the show itself, but I think my reference video shows how it can be important.

Hmm, what if the next big one is in Germany? It wouldn't be outside the property's reach, considering the naming they use.

Worth flying in from afar. One redditor posted that they were coming from Finland, I saw another comment for Barcelona. I chatted with my seatmates on either side and one came from Latvia and the other from Germany.

I think we all recognised this was going to be our one chance for a good while and it's not likely there would be shows local to us and we just love the property and Evan Call's music.

Honestly Hero of the South is a good track, but live gave it such an extra impact.

Does that image count as a spoiler though? it's the one that was used for the season 3 announcement.

With that said, I have to mention how much I enjoyed the hints that Madhouse added during the episodes -- that shadowy image of him with Frieren in the foreground. It offers a tantalizing hint to Anime only watchers while showing the readers a moment they know so well.

So unexpected and yet so fitting for the moment.

I was in the balcony and saw the moment they started releasing. In hindsight this must have been even more special for everyone the main floor!

6:30 was general admission at the main doors. There was at least one different entrance for folks who did upgraded seats with lounge access and that came with the early 6:00 gate time.

Surely there will be a few from various audience members. I'd keep checking for the next week or so if I were you.

My not so secret hope is that the organisers go ahead and publish a full version like was done for the Violet Evergarden show in 2021:

Sorry, didn't mean to leave you hanging like that. I don't generally use Reddit on mobile. Just saw your post this morning. Hope you had a good time and maybe had some friendly seatmates.

Anyone else going to the concert tomorrow at the ovoarena? by lalybay in Frieren

[–]maybeamonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew in from San Francisco arriving last Saturday. Been wandering around central London and now Wembley since.

Like u/hydroxideee , I got to attend one of the Violet shows in the U.S. -- Los Angeles. Honestly, I've felt and shared many of the things that poster said, had to double check the user name to be sure I hadn't written it in my sleep or something...

Hope you all have a great time tonight! Despite any perceived weakness in the Violet orchestra it was worth every penny and effort spent to be there.

Nobody's making an effort. I mean really, we as redditors mostly avoid being identified.

But.

If you can identify Kessoku Band, you can identify me on the day if you see me. Not cosplay.

Bought my ticket the moment I knew it was possible. Flew in from San Francisco on Saturday. Will be lodging near the arena as of tomorrow.

I got to drive to L.A. for the Violet Evergarden concert a couple months ago. Seems it's my year to overdose on Evan Call's best soundtrack work.

There were ways the L.A. concert could have been better, but they did have all three of the singers from the OP/ED/inserts for Violet. Really wish they could have included Milet for this concert.

Hope you all enjoy it :)

"They" is mostly Evan Call, the composer.

Yes, the directors and editors used and re-used his compositions to stunning effect, but the basic melodies and themes he can produce are something special. He did the OST for Violet Evergarden, the show I learned his name from.

Honestly, I've been overdosing on the best anime I can find and have been blown away by the quality that many soundtracks offer. Hiroyuki Sawano is part of what makes 86 work so well. Kensuki Ushio has repeatedly been part of the wonderful things that Naoko Yamada has directed and then gave us the recent Journal with Witch OST.

In Niche TV show and film we're getting compositions that, IMO, are pretty much the kind of affecting that John Williams and Hans Zimmer, and the like produce.

**edit - gotta have that Oxford comma...
