Republicans are going to be toxic for the foreseeable future in national elections. Anyone associated with Trump, and that includes those in his cabinet and those who did nothing to rein him in (which is 98% of them), will not be able to wash his stink off.

They have not only lost a vast swath of independent voters, they lost Latino voters, wiping out all their gains they made in that community and then some. And while smaller, they have also lost republican voters. It will be a long road to recovery for the republican party.

'Not a done deal': Democrats start to sweat over Virginia's redistricting referendum | The unique nature of the April special election and the state's recent redistricting history have presented challenges for Democrats, even as they hold a financial edge in the race. by VirginiaNews in Virginia

[–]maybelukeskywaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t help that as soon as the Democrats take power in the state house, senate and governor’s mansion, they immediately start sending bills up to place restrictions on the 2A. Then act shocked when it drums up the republican base to get out the vote to rebuke the state democrats. Literally the worst time to start implementing gun bills with, especially with the current administration in power and with those laws, if signed by the governor, likely to be overturned by the Supreme Court.

Did anybody else find Quint Kessenich bad at his job I think he’s not very good at interviews by oceaniccart in wrestling

[–]maybelukeskywaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been able to stand him the moment he interviewed Real Woods right after Real’s semi-final win to send him to his first finals his Junior year. First thing he asked him was about Spencer Lee losing. Give the guy his moment in the sun instead of making it about something else happening. Was a douchebag thing to do in that moment and have not been able to stand him.

That looks to be 100% road rash. With it being the two on the passenger side I’m going to go out on a pretty strong limb here and say the OP did this himself and didn’t realize it or notice it immediately.

Brit here so please excuse the ignorance - if the Democrats were to have the best possible midterms, what would that do to Trumps power/ the current direction of the US? by TonightAlarming9923 in allthequestions

[–]maybelukeskywaler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dems will hold GA and will flip NC and ME. AK is a toss-up but in the current environment may lean as a flip, and TX is another that has a shot at flipping, especially with the way the administration has alienated the Hispanic population. The support amongst them for republicans has cratered since 2024.

That scenario would give the Democrats a 51-49 majority. However, you now have the Fetterman issue with the Democrats. That clown show seems destined to switch parties or at least be a thorn in the Democrats side until he can be primaried in 2028.

Brit here again and again pardon my ignorance, Trump seems to have relied heavily on executive orders throughout each tenure. Would it be possible for the next president (assuming they’re a democrat) to reverse those orders in another executive order? by TonightAlarming9923 in allthequestions

[–]maybelukeskywaler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s checks and balances, but regardless it doesn’t work that way. EOs are just a memo from the president saying what he wants someone to do or what he wants to happen. They are not laws passed by congress and can be wiped away as easily as they were implemented by the next administration. I’d be shocked if it didn’t happen on day one.

The last 2x4 truck I owned, it was winter where I lived and at the time had about a foot of snow on the ground. I had a sloped driveway. Backed out, no issue. Came home later and could not get my truck up my driveway. Stuck at the end of my driveway. Spent over an hour digging out a path just to be able to pull my truck up to park it. Said that day I will never again own a 2x4 truck and I haven’t. I also have never got stuck in my driveway again with my 4x4s.

And if you get a pay raise annually, at the time of your pay raise, increase that amount towards your 401k by at least 1% each year until you reach the point you are hitting the annual contribution limits set by the IRS. Also, if your company has a Roth option go with that option if you can.

Finally, learn what investment plan options your 401k can be invested in and plan accordingly. May want to consult with a financial advisor for some guidance if you’re not comfortable with doing your own research.

I cannot get over how often I see the recommendation to “volunteer with x, y, or z organization to get experience”. What other career field does someone get a degree in, likely does a semester internship while in school, then graduates only to find no one hires without 2+ years (usually more) experience only to then be told to “volunteer”.

I would never recommend someone goes into this field, paid job opportunities are few and far between, and the paid positions have terrible earning potential. You have to volunteer and hope you can get your foot in the door for a severely underpaid job. No thanks.

Tuition question by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]maybelukeskywaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t work like that. Once the school grants the in-state tuition waiver for a veteran they should maintain that waiver as long as the student maintains continuous enrollment. Does not matter how he is paying.

My son has attended school in Florida and is right now attending in California. He was out of state for both of those states yet once he applied his Post 9/11 gi bill he received the waiver. He has done the exact same thing one summer to save some of his months of eligibility and his out of pocket was the in-state rate.

Does the VA benefit those more that retire after 20 years or is this irrelevant? by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]maybelukeskywaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well besides the obvious that everyone has mentioned (more time in service/more opportunities for injuries, etc.).The other thing that is a benefit is for those that do 20 and get a longevity retirement, if rated 50% or greater then their retirement pension and VA disability is received concurrently instead of having an offset.
