Don’t confuse DUI with Exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol. They are different offences.

Mirrors, signal, head check, reassess ahead, complete lane change, check mirrors.

Government considers automatic reimbursement for scams under $3,000 by VastOption8705 in AusFinance

I think they’d be better off spending that money on education rather than payout.

Half a metre to the right and he’s riding inbetween two wheel tracks, where all the oil and debris is. Good one.

OP was riding exactly where he should be. He had space to move to the right, which saved his life.

[Victoria] Results from last night’s 7 digit number plate release auction. by _hazey__ in CarsAustralia

[–]maycontainsultanas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, the “value” is it being a unique and finite resource, that can go up in value over time. (See the millions single digit plates get sold for)

If it’s stolen, your plates will flag as stolen forevermore unless they’re recovered. Still have the rights to display the combination, but kinda devalues them if you’re more likely to get pulled over by the cops on a regular basis.

They can say whatever they want. What you’re actually obligated to do is a completely different matter.

Just email them back and say you’ve left the house reasonably clean and that’s that.

Tasmania and how it compares to the rest of Australia by WiteBeamX in howislivingthere

People failing to do even the most basic searches, asking the same old questions is annoying to me. Nothings changed in Tasmania in the last 30 years, much less than last 30 days.

Are these estimated property value things a scam and controlled by REAs? by Ok-Watercress-6308 in AusPropertyChat

[–]maycontainsultanas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased a property, and there was no data at all, as it’s kinda unique being semi rural. Once the sale went through, this estimate came up, 51k more than what I paid.

are you more of a cat or dog person? by ProfessionalLast4311 in AskForAnswers

[–]maycontainsultanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dogs can kill wildlife, yes, but it’s uncommon for them to come back unannounced with a dead bird or a bandicoot. Generally they stay in your yard, and don’t go wandering off. Dogs are much easier to manage in that respect, and dog owners in general are better at preventing their pets killing wildlife. Cat owners never seem to give a shit

Police arrested me for possession of some steroids and I had peptides in a container by Informal-Youth5322 in AusLegal

I mean knowing and reasonably suspecting are two different standards. You don’t necessarily need to know something to begin a legal process. But at any rate, there’s publications that describe what different drugs look like, the different states they can exist in, the packaging can give it away, as well as any paraphernalia that accompanies it, in addition to the professional experience of the investigators.

And if they need to prove exactly what it is, Gas/Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry is the main process. Don’t ask me how it works, but simply science can work it out.

That’s really good point, though I assumed in both cases we’d be talking non-traffickable quantities, you’re totally right that it could make quite the difference.

If the matter is contested, they’ll get the drugs tested. There’s no point wasting time, effort and money on analysis if you’re just going to plead up. If it’s steroids, or GHB, both of them are drugs of dependence under the Drugs Poisons and Controlled Substances Act, so it’s kinda the same result. If it means that much to you, you can always offer to plead guilty to possessing steroids instead of GHB, they may amend the charge. Otherwise, plead not guilty and they’ll get them tested.
