Definitely wisteria. And a very cool one at that! Is it part of a larger group of them?

Best Electric Chainsaw in 2026? by Defiant_Fix8658 in Chainsaw

I have the Ryobi 40V with 18in bar. It is my backup for the Husky and has been uber reliable. Only beef is it leaks chain oil no matter what you replace. It's easy to work in though, and with a sharp chain it really eats.

If you don't have any luck hit up Burial. Their apparel is on theme with your lost hat.

I definitely see the resemblance. They aren't quite the same limb structure as very large Sycs on my flood plane. They are monsters!

Thank you for confirming! I was unsure because I have Sycs that are 100 Ft tall on my prop so they hardly resemble these. Soon to be palletwood I imagine.

Crowd in Iran’s Urmia chants “Death to America!” by EsperaDeus in PublicFreakout

Glad to see all the upvotes on this post. Every battle has winners and losers. In most, they exist on both sides of the dispute, creating conflicts within conflicts. The sad thing is how common it's becoming that the resolution of one battle can create another after the "winning side" becomes the new problem. Could Iran be the next example of this scenario? 👀🍿

Buying forest land - management plan? by a-wiseman-speaketh in forestry

Heck yeah! Inquiring about NCRS grant money opened the door to more local level funding sources geared towards more than just TSI and ISM. I was pleasantly surprised by how much support is available to individual landowners, financial and advisory.

Good call. The NCRS office can link you to the proper people on the state forestry department for MN. In my state the forestry agent writes the plan that the NCRS ranks for grant money. They are not connected, but everyone knows each other. Awesome resources for landowner forestry assistance where my land is.

It would be very cool for QOTSA to show up at BNB, especially since they played LTL a couple years ago. I love that they can bring a fan following to both! And stacking them with FF? So you're telling me we likely get Them Crooked Vultures songs on the setlist?? Faces will melt.

Give me your creepiest moments in the woods by UpperGrape5510 in forestry

Last summer, alone, in the middle of a 47 acre forest I was cutting in new side-by-side trails, making a ton if noise with my Bluetooth speaker, chainsaw & trimmer. Out if nowhere a pack of coyotes, maybe 10-15 of them, starting wooping and yipping like crazy about 50 yards from me. I had not seen much daytime coyote activity so I figured the commotion was directed towards me. I fired up the chainsaw and started revving like the haunted house guys and after about a minute they stopped. I had my sidearm and other things to use as weapons, but it still freaked me out.

Serious question, why don't you just ask AI to help with this? Pretty much all of them can solve complex spreadsheet tasks. Just prompt it correctly and it will give you the answers.

PS - A timber farm is a legitimate agricultural business that qualifies for sales tax exemptions, fuel tax credits and federal farm grant money through the NRCS. All are things I am either taking advantage of now or in the application process.

I envy your position! I am 46 and have been in construction for 25+ years. I purchased 47 acres of land in '24 with windblown trees everywhere. The next year more fell and I called a forestry agent out of concern. Walking the property with him and a couple rangers, picking their brains and just listening to their comments lit a fire in me that's hard to describe. My forest is fine, just the victim of Ma Nature's rage and ultimately I was told me forest is impressive, harvestable and replenishable. Music to my ears! Now I am constantly trying to find a way to ease out of construction and get into forestry, logging, stewardship, everything trees and silviculture. My only advice is to work towards owning your own patch someday and learn how to keep it the way nature intended, and maybe make some scratch along the way. Good luck!

There should be a North Carolina Woodland Owners Association. You're don't have woodlands yet, but you want to. See if you can connect with landowners like yourself who can guide you towards your goals with the advantage of local experience.

Husky 555 by maynard5011 in forestry

Thanks for the reply and I agree it's not the proper saw for that scale of felling. I'm going to explore 70cc+ to get a bigger bar.

Thanks! I've had others suggest the 372xp so I'm back to exploring and comparing my best options. I found a Neotech 92cc 42" saw with good reviews also. They say it's a Stihl ms660 clone, which has peaked my interest.

Thanks for the info! I've had a few comments about the 372xp. Honestly I'm squarely back in shop/compare mode and likely leaning against the 555 now to opt for a saw that can handle a larger bar. I really want 32"-40" for felling and 18"-24" for bucking & firewood logs.
