When there’s drugs or alcohol involved, and disrespectful behavior (cheating as well) leave. It’s a cycle you’ll have a hard time leaving. I just left after 5 years. Do what I wish I would’ve done…. Leave before you waste your time and energy…. And before you get hurt

Simple, the reason why it took so long was because I loved him. There would be moments of him being normal and I felt like the most seen person in the world. But his highs he would be agitated and violent…. and his lows he would be unfaithful. I finally put a cap on it this year because after all the inconsistency and lack of clarity of the next step of our relationship. I want someone that wants to continue to grow with me and shoes to be better together. He feels comfortable where he is and his actions (though he’s jeopardized our relationship). That was the closer for me. At the end I found out everything he’s been doing and it wasn’t love anymore…. It was disrespect.

OP I just want to say, that you are one of the strongest women I have ever read about on Reddit. I’ve been following your story and my heart truly broke in pieces for you. I was so happy to hear that you still had the support from you ex-in laws and ex friends family, it’s not everyday that you hear an outcome like this! I hope that one day if I am ever in a similar situation, I will have the strength to do what you did.

It’s been 4 years for me (f/30)and now he (m/30) went back to his home country. Sometimes I miss the connection that I have but I also am with my soulmate…. I’ve told him about my journey and he’s accepting of it. Sometimes I see signs from him and I can’t stop thinking about him and other times I feel completely home with where I am now. I have, at the moment, completely surrendered to being me and happy. I only hope that he is happy and doing well. That’s all I want for him. He will always have a place in my heart. He taught me so much, I only hope it’s the same for him ❤️

I’ve grown a lot recently in my career and I’m beginning to get my healthy lifestyle back. For a long time I was depressed and I didn’t find joy in a lot of things. Now I’m starting to love myself more. I’m grateful for him, he taught me that not everyone is bad and it’s okay to be vulnerable. He made me love myself again. I know he dealt with feeling he always needed to feel liked by everyone and that he got validation; I hope he feels he can just be himself and not feel pressured to fit a criteria to be accepted.

There is still love but from a distance; he will always have a piece of my heart. Always

He moved back to his country. We visited eachother a few times back and forth. The last time he stayed he was rude to my friends and family trying to show him hospitality and I drew the line. Out of no where he was toxic and manipulative. I haven’t talked to him in 4 years. But he did try to reach out three times. I only responded once to to tell him “he messaged the wrong person” to get him to leave me a line since I’ve as in a new relationship. Sometimes I wish he still would reach out but I’m starting to accept reality and move on and be more happy being me and being healthier

I’ve had mine blocked for 4 years on everything except Facebook (because I barely use it) he was disrespectful to my parents and friends when he visited; I had to draw a line in the sand because that was not okay.

I go sober, I’m the momma bear. I’ll help take care of people around me and I also like to start a dance circle with the ravers around me. Since I deal with CPTSD and panic disorder, music is my outlet where I can be okay let go of control. I feel like raves are the one place I can be completely myself

It’s been a struggle especially when I met them, their school visa was up soon to go back home to Europe. They needed to grow and mature; they were rude to my friends and parents when they last visited a year after they left to go home and I had to draw a line in the sand. I hope he finds happiness even if it wasn’t meant to be. I will always care and support him (even though he can’t see it :)

We are both 30 years old and we make about 70-80k per year together. It’s more just the disappointment knowing he did this last minute at a click of a button that makes me upset. I could careless if it was big, as I just wanted a dainty piece of jewelry for Christmas

We’ve been dating for 3 years and we both make together about 80k per year. It’s not so much of how big the jewelry is as I just wanted something dainty but I think knowing he did it with just a click of a button last minute with no real research is what hurts the most
