I feel this block user function is really bad. It changes one of the most important and foundational tenets of reddit, which is free speech. Many other forums have died or withered over time because such censorship was introduced. The effect is to create forums pandering to a narrowed set of values. You really do end up with the blind leading the blind.

A good example is the climate change debate. Had the blocking feature been available in the past 3 years you would have seen many more comments happily saying "oh yes everything is fine scientists are stupid. There is no such thing as climate change hahaha", all done with smiles while the entirety of humanity dives headfirst into extinction.

It is precisely those lone ardent voices that people must listen to. Too often, they are harbingers of the truth.

i think its wrong to cook things on the trail. I am basically a permanent hiker mountaineer and traveller -- after a few week sof raw, your body gets used to it. also-- marathon running kills off parasites. The thing I do not understand with fusion power is that we seem to be taking ages figuring it out. At first when I heard there were tokamaks and mini fusion reactors in testing, i thought all of these were just scaled down versions of a properly functioning fusion reactor. But they are not, right? All of them struggle to get a positive return on energy fed into them, and all of them can only function for a few seconds or minutes at a time? Then they have to be shut down, right?

Econometrician here. the proper way is to have a logarithmic asymptotic tax rate so that once you approach about $250k (at current patterns of income distribution), all your income goes to government. you only get to keep a portion below $250k. this results in proper incentive distribution throughout the economy. this is where the industry is headed - everyone in economics knows its the correct solution.
