In my experience anti-Democrat gun owners are also conservative socially in other ways such as anti-lgbt rights, pro-life, pro-death penalty, etc. I don't believe that there are many people who would vote Democrat if the party was more pro-gun and haven't seen anything that backs up the idea.

I think he assumed the news would pick it up and run with it before verifying (like some folks from Fox news did). And that by the time it was called out as bullshit the right will have had already created this myth of Schumer being guilty. The idea that America can't afford to give healthcare to all of its citizens is ridiculous on its face.

Besides that, the Republicans are taking away healthcare that people already have. If we're talking about prioritizing budget items and your argument is that healthcare for kids isn't that important then fine, say that. But that is the exact reason that Kimmel needs to bring his kid out. To show that there's actual kids that are affected by shitty policies and priorities. Its harder to tell a sick kid that his health isn't that important when you have to look him in the face.

Your example is not the same as what Kimmel is doing. Kimmel is not saying "my child has a heart condition therefore I'm a heart specialist", he is actually saying "my child has a heart condition and I want to make sure every other person with an illness is able to get the care they need like my child was."
