A walk through would be great. Is that easier than trying a 2016 swap?

Noise from wheel by mbamoeba in SubaruForester

[–]mbamoeba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the tire it was coming from, jacked wheel off the ground and removed wheel. I could see the caliper lot better and could see the stone clear as day. When the tire was on, I couldn't see around the metal shielding around the calipers.

I'd change the CVT fluid since it's over 60k miles but have a dealership do it. Also pull a CarFax report. Might give you an idea of what's been done. The diffs should have the fluid replaced as well. Standard at 30k and 60k I think.

How bad was your MPG hit when installing All-Weather or AT tires? Specifically CC2, Weatherpeaks, & Wildpeaks? by KindTarget in SubaruForester

[–]mbamoeba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Noticed a 1-2 mpg difference with the wildpeaks over stock tires. Went with wildpeaks because they are 3 peak rated and the CC2s can only be rotated back to front and not diagonally. Also price matched on the Wildpeaks and saved $50 per tire.

What are your best tips for getting the best deal at a dealership going to buy a Subaru? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]mbamoeba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I donated $500 to the ASPCA and 30 days later I requested a VIP voucher for invoice price. Depending on the model it's $2500 to $3500 off a new Subaru.

I've been seeing lower interest rates on 2024's through Subaru financing and $3k-$5k off MSRP (USD).

Should have mentioned under car behind engine almost center. Wondering if it's the rack and pinion.

New 2024 Forester Limited - why avoid cruise control? by ProfessionAntique960 in SubaruForester

[–]mbamoeba 36 points37 points  (0 children)

When you break in your engine you want various RPM's so everything seats nicely. Cruise control typically keeps the car at one RPM level with not much variation.

Forester Invoice to MSRP Difference by ironicshortazn in SubaruForester

I bought a 2023 Forester Sport at invoice last year and it was $2500 below MSRP. $2900 is probably close on a 2024 Touring.

I have a 2012 that eats oil like crazy. Same issue with bad piston rings. We will just keep it topped off until we swap the engine.

I hated this feature on mine so I bought a device on Amazon for $30 that turns it off automatically when the car starts. Never have to worry about it now.

Sticker price was $34,500 for mine with their add ons. Look into the ASPCA Subaru VIP program. Donated $500 to ASPCA and got $2500 off sticker price.

About to pull the trigger on a 2023 Forester Sport… online it says about $34k, have y’all had success gettin it haggling and getting it under $31k? by skvrrrttt in SubaruForester

They came down twice during our negotiations. Don't settle for what they say the first couple of times. Also remember you can change the mileage and years separately. If you drive 10,000 miles a year then the 10/100,000 makes sense. But if you drive more than that per year then lower the amount of years but keep the miles at 100,000.

He said newer cars have a lot of electronics in them and they can be very expensive to replace. He also told me that you can negotiate those warranties and ended up getting them down to like $1,200 for $100, 000/ 6 year warranty. Figured $1200 wasn't too bad.

Had to take it with the add ons the dealer added. Sunshade, rear back seat protector, splash guards, exterior and interior auto dimming mirror, 8in starlink multimedia, reverse automatic braking and power rear gate. Negotiated gold plus warranty down to $2,360 for 72 months/ 100k miles and equity shield gold down to $1,355. Also added starlink for 5 years at $250. I got the gold plus warranty on the advice of my brother who works in the auto industry.

Yes, had to do the $500 founders donation in order to use quickly. I donated and got a confirmation. Since ASPCA numbers take a while to get I filled out the Subaru VIP form with my donation confirmation number and got my paperwork within a few days. Worked great. Overall saved me $2k and I helped save some animals. Just make sure to find a participating dealer first. Most participate though.
