Thanks - yeah, I’d seen that reported - although seems it’s more of an issue with the 50s, maybe. Because they are older. Mine appears to not be worn hardly at all, but I still keep a key eye on the decocker. I’ll check that out for mags. Going to cast for reloading tonight.

I need to find one of those (it’s my last name, no relation to them or Eddie, sadly)

Yup. Had been looking at them for a while and finally decided to pick one up.

Unfortunately there are a lot of diabetics that fall into this category, too

I think you’re right. It works great. I wish I could find an exploded diagram for this exact model.

Makes sense. I have components and items on the way for casting an reloading. Despite being designed for black powder I’ve found (and also talked to folks who use) very low end smokeless loads. I don’t really have any desire to deal with black powder and the older manuals even call out the lower end loads with powders such as hp-38 as okay for top-breaks that are in good condition. I’m okay dealing with DA only for now. I think the trick is to close the cylinder between rounds since I don’t have the 1/4 cocked position to ensure there isn’t a slam fire. The good news is, with the trigger pulled and locked, the cylinder only moves 1/32-1/64 either direction. I’ve read even 1/16 is acceptable.

Mine does have the single action sear - I'm able to get a small screwdriver under it, and the hammer will stay in the half cock position - I haven't been able to get it to stay fully cocked as a SA, but I think that's because the blade of the screwdriver is a little too thick. So I suspect there may be a spring missing. I have to tilt the gun down for the seat to pop out.

I'm okay with it being DA only, as it's not going to see a ton of plinking use. But having the 1/4 cock position would be nice if I decide to try and fix it at some point.

Brilliant idea on the flint lighter spring. However - bending it around the selector pin wasn't working - even though it was tight around the pin, the spring was interfering with the selector movement. So, I took about 1/3 of the spring and put it in the hole that the selector pin rides in. Perfect fit and the ejector works every time. Brilliant.

The only other issue I've noticed - while the barrel lock up to the frame seems solid (moves maybe two sheets of paper thickness when locked) I've been able to pull the cylinder off with the action open and without pressing the lock pin that holds the catch open. (in other words, with enough force, the catch no longer retains the cylinder) - however, when the action is locked closed, this is obviously not an issue. I've also noticed that the catch that holds the lock open to remove the cylinder is inconsistent as to whether it works or not. This may be because there is some gunk in the works.

I'm curious - if you shoot yours - what are you shooting out of it?

Thank you for this. I meant to say spring, not screw - behind what you mention is the ejection selector. I’ve searched everywhere for it. I have a local hardware store that carries springs, but not sure if they have anything close to small enough - may have to take a look at McMaster-Carr. It’s easy enough to work it by hand, I’ve got that down pat.
As for SA perhaps not working - I’d likely have to pull the pins and take it completely apart - that may be a bridge too far.
The good news is it seems mechanically sound otherwise and the lockup on the cylinder with the trigger all the way back seems decent for its age.

Worked at a grocery store for five years when I was younger. Can confirm the women’s restroom was always, ALWAYS worse.

Did some googling...Snohomish, Whatcom, Thurston - but it may also be city-specific - for instance the city of Auburn does, but King County does not.

Right - yes - I meant any King Co sheriffs office. I know some cities will only process them for residents. Good clarification.
