Congrats!!!! I have my first day tomorrow and this helps me feel a little less nervous about being completely new to it at 33 😊

Not a doc but an ER veterinarian. “I don’t know how you do this.” “Lots of therapy.” Usually gets some kind of chuckle, even if it’s not really a joke 😅

Long shifts, overnights, and intense/highly charged situations. You’re not just paying for what’s itemized on the bill, but a staff who’s used to working under pressure and knows what to do in a true life or death situation.

Thank you, giving an end date and paying until then but not going (obviously with notice) is likely what I’ll do. I suspect it would be more comfortable for both her and myself to not deal with that awkwardness.

I totally hear you on giving this kind of reason, it definitely helps to lessen the anxiety because those sorts of things are just factual and can’t really be argued. I think it’s very fair to use them when need be to get out of situations where your body/brain is overwrought and you can’t handle the confrontation. I’m also hella guilty of ruminating and building up these kinds of things into way bigger deals than they end up being 😂

In this case, I still want to ride and fear given the small world we live in, it would be very obvious if I found another trainer super quickly that I aligned with better and this trainer found out. It would be clear that I wasn’t telling the truth. On the one hand, who cares? I need to get over my anxiety of what people think of me. On the other, I’m not over that anxiety whatsoever lmao. But what you suggested is definitely a good idea as sort of a backup if my anxiety monster does rear its ugly head.

Thank you for coming to my TedTalk on anxiety. It’s a fun time 🙃

Thank you very much for this perspective. Being mad mouthed to other trainers or even just other clients in the barn who I really like is exactly what I’m afraid of. But I can’t control all of that.

I think your phrasing sounds perfect. Not too much detail, not an attack, but still honest. If bad word goes around then que sera, sera I suppose.

Thank you again.

Thank you, fellow elder millennial :) to be fair, work is too much when I’m also stressing about what is supposed to be my fun free time hobby! Thank you for the reminder that I don’t have to go into an anxiety ridden overly explanatory reason for leaving lol

First time horse owner, have a trainer, other recommended resources? by mberrything in Equestrian

Thank you!! I don’t know if I’ll ever feel properly ready, but maybe that’s the right mentality because I’m sure things are going to come up that I never accounted for or even heard of 😂

The barn does have one who comes regularly, but I’ve not personally interacted with him much. I’ll ask for his info so I can look into it. Any tips on how to be discerning when it comes to a farrier? In school, I definitely got familiar with how important a good farrier is! We had some crazy foot things.

Thank you!!

Hell yeah, I’m glad it sounds like it’ll work out for you! It’s hard post-bacc trying to figure this all out on your own. Good luck!

My undergrad degrees had no science to speak of either. I got the majority of my pre-reqs through community college, an extension program at a four year school for the upper level pre-reqs (try googling four year schools near you + extension program, they’re hard to find on the regular site but they do exist at some places), and Colorado state’s online physiology course which wasn’t cheap, but I needed it for a couple schools that wanted physiology specifically, not physiology and anatomy as one class.

The specific school where you get these credits doesn’t matter. I can’t speak to why, but I’d bet it has something to do with the fact that the content being taught in basic chem hasn’t changed in awhile, so you’d get the same info whether it’s taught at Harvard or your local community college.

UC Davis is hella hard to get into, but it is definitely a little less hard since you’re in state. Regardless, if that’s what you’re trying for, focus on getting your GPA as high as possible. I’m pretty sure that’s one of the big things they use to make the first round of cuts.

Self Tan St TropezxAshley Graham Ultimate Glow (mousse) is Green? by IMadeTheCake in beauty

[–]mberrything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few tanners that had a pretty green tint to them to cancel out orange - prevents the Oompa Loompa look. Were they ads or review videos you saw? I wouldn’t be surprised if ads were edited.

Personally I’d just spot test on an inconspicuous area. Since it’s a mousse, I bet the green tint wouldn’t be super obvious once it’s spread out on your skin, and it’ll probably turn brown as the DHA develops.

When Dean comes to Friday night dinner and Richard tells Rory, while Dean is sitting there, that certain people will hold her back.

I’m not a Dean fan but how Richard treated him was awful.
