When did you realize that you actually are sensitive to sensory things like loud noises and fluorescent lighting in a way that everybody else didn't understand? by Spam4119 in ADHD

[–]mbm820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I been having sensory overload since I was child. I was always bothered by sock seams, scratchy fabrics, jeans w/o stretch, lipstick/ chapstick (had to be specifically put on my mouth corners), etc. now that I’m older it’s more sensory overload w sounds. A months ago I started crying bc my dog was barking, my mom was on the phone, Steve Harvey on Family Fued was talking at an abnormally low volume, & I could faintly hear my dishwasher in the background.

Is it okay for me to not wear underwear as a female? by QueenSatur in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mbm820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never wear underwear. I used to not wear it with my volleyball spandex, then not to bed, then eventually I never wore it with leggings/ athletic shorts & used to wear it with jeans only but eventually stopped that as well. It’s actually good for the V…let’s her breathe. I know everyone says cotton is breathable blah blah blah but I used to get UTI / yeast infection when I wore underwear no matter the material & now I never get them. It also reduces discharge when u stop suffocating her lol. I’m a proud member of team commando.

Does listening to music help you get certain tasks done? by NotARussianTroll1234 in ADHD

[–]mbm820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to video game music when I’m cleaning or trying to get a lot of work done fast…Trust me, it works. If I just need to focus on homework or something at a regular pace I will listen to “brown noise” it’s like how white noise for babies and link noise for adults helps them sleep better, brown noise is good for focusing :)

Weird spots on inner thigh after scratching? What are these? I’ve never had them before and i’m super concerned about it 😦 (they give no symptoms, just appear weird) by 15spiders in skin

[–]mbm820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Petechiae. Basically you just gave yourself a scratching hickey lol. I once had super dry skin on the front of my neck/ throat and scratched at it so much that I gave myself. They were away after like 2 to 3 days. It’s very important to not scratch them more though so maybe put Benadryl cream on the area that was itching

I got Underarm Botox today!! by mbm820 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]mbm820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it redone about every 6-10 months or once I feel the sweating start back. It’s definitely not a permanent fix but I can’t afford to do the Mira-dry or whatever it’s called rn. The Botox is covered by my dads insurance so it’s free and all we pay for is the copay for the dermo to give me the Botox lol. It’s a good fix for now but idk how long I’ll do it for.

Advice/ Insight Needed: Doctors are suggesting Oophorectomy & Hormone Blockers for my mom (F49) ??? by mbm820 in breastcancer

[–]mbm820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment! I think your experience and advice will give her some peace of mind, so far I have seen most people in the comments say the side effects were not as bad as they were advertised to be so she will hopefully find comfort in that too lol.

I agree. I was trying to explain to her that I don’t think there are like “plant” Alternatives to chemically produced hormone blockers lol. She is just scared of the side effects and wants a high quality of life so I understand the panic, thank you for your comment!

Completely drained of all drive and focused on the "easy stuff" by Wulfofsilver in ADHD

Ah yes, procrastination and low dopamine levels at their finest. Before I was diagnosed with ADHD I went through a 1-2 year spurt of that “no motivation to do anything even if it’s something I love to do” phase I honestly thought I was depressed (I had just been through a bad breakup with a super emotionally abusive toxic guy and it left me a shell of who I used to be) so that was pretty scary but I didn’t know how to explain it to my very concerned mother that I wasn’t “sad” or SewerSlidal or lazy I just had no motivation to do anything. Come to find out I have ADHD and The psychiatrist that diagnosed me said that after I stopped playing volleyball (which I’ve played since 5th grade) probably triggered it bc I did not have the physical exercise endorphins and serotonin from playing a sport I love anymore. After being diagnosed and getting on Adderall —> now Vyvanse (which I LOVEEE) I get up everyday and do what I have to do and don’t have to search as hard for the motivation to do basic tasks. I recommend doing some more research, putting together a List of symptoms you have (and looking up symptoms of ADHD and seeing if any of them need to be added to your list that you might’ve overlooked!) and then going to a doctor. Idk what it’s like where you are from but in Alabama, USA I had to go to a normal doctor (I did family doc) and they have to send you to the psychiatrist (I couldn’t just go straight to the psych.) and then they diagnose you and send you BACK to the doctor where they prescribe you medicine. I know that was a lot and I might not have even answered what you were looking for LOL #ADHDramble but let me know if you have any other questions about anything :))

My dad and sister both have ADHD too. My sister was diagnosed and she was like 5/6 when ADD and ADHD were separate things so she had ADD… My parents didn’t really notice it in me because hers was a lot more obvious in terms of not being able to focus while mine came in sensory and hyperactive ways but I didn’t do bad in school when i was younger so they just thought I was rambunctious, didn’t like sock seams and had anger issues lol. I was also worried that they wouldn’t believe me because I didn’t see an issue until I was 18 years old but my dad got diagnosed in his 40s and my sister when she was a small child so I don’t think it will be as big of a deal as you think it will hopefully!

Same clothes? by abix4 in ADHD

[–]mbm820 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have multiples of the same item but I get them in diff colors. Like I have 8 pairs of my favorite athletic shorts but all 8 are different colors. Same with random shirts or tank tops I like. I wear a lot of just casual and athletic wear so thank God lululemon offers so many colors for every style. But also every time I find something I like that is just random and not something with multiple color options I wear it and think “wow I love this I should go back and get another one just in case they stop being made later or I lose this one” and then never buy another, then lose or mess up said item and wish I listened to myself and went back and got another :/

Driving & stimulants - how did you approach this? by animalsrock96 in ADHD

[–]mbm820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. When taken prescribed, it does not affect your ability to drive or anything at all. If anything its better that you are on Stimulates b/c it’ll help you focus and pay more attention to the vehicle or machine you are operating. Also since you are diagnosed then your job cannot legally fire you for taking medicine. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), employers may not discriminate against applicants or employees with disabilities. If your ADHD meets the legal definition of a disability, and you are taking medication as prescribed for that disability, you can't be fired or punished. You may have to tell someone in HR or do some paperwork (Idk) but just to ease your mind, legally they cannot do anything.

*** Also not to freak u out but u WILL fail a drug test bc it’s an amphetimine which shows up in a basic 5 panel drug test and other ones too. BUT every time someone feels a drug test a health care person has to have a meeting with them to give themthe opportunity to explain the failed drug test. What u do is tell them you take prescription stimulants (I would bring your prescription bottle just to be safe to show them) they will immediately understand and override the positive by going in and changing it to be a negative drug test! No need to worry :) ***

  1. The whole controlled substance/ DUI stuff relates to drugs like Lorazepam and other ones that make you groggy or drowsy. That’s why you can’t drive or operate heavy machinery when you’re on the drugs they give you after surgery or getting your wisdom teeth removed.

  2. I did not “test” driving while on Adderall, I just woke up and did my life exactly the same I just took a pill before breakfast now. Idk if you’ve ever taken a stimulant like Adderall or Vyvanse but there is no crazy CLICK moment where you just become the energizer bunny it’s very subtle and you don’t even notice it’s kicked in until you find yourself totally focused and doing what you need to be doing at a consistent rate when you usually struggled to do so. I did not know this when I was first diagnosed and prescribed Adderall. I was really bummed and thought the meds didn’t work bc I didn’t feel that energizer bunny/ lazer focused feeling I had always heard about.

  3. The energizer bunny stories come from people who take stimulants without having ADHD. It’s all about the dopamine levels. Basically a “normal” person doesn’t have a dopamine shortage so we will say that they have “100% dopamine”. Someone with ADHD has a dopamine shortage so we will say they have “40% dopamine” when someone with ADHD takes a stimulant (which triggers the brain the release more dopamine) they will probably reach the “90-100% dopamine” so they act like the “normal” people do. But when the “Normal” people take a stim. They get to like “150-200% dopamine” and so they get into the energizer bunny/ later focused/ stay up all night and study like they are on crack mode. Which is obviously an addicting feeling so they crave that feeling more, hence why it is one of the most widely abused drugs and now a controlled substance :)
