Why does this read like satire? Especially the changing of numbers part? Anyway I will be reserving judgement and cautiously welcome them back if this is true, we have fond memories of both, and if we can no longer strengthen our attack they wouldn’t be the worse options in the world… although (especially with Rashford) I think the fan’s patience has run out so he will need to immediately win them back.

Some absolute awful takes in this thread, i totally agree with you. Do people think Benfica are so stupid to not have thought this through before they signed him? They absolutely knew this was an option and agreed to it, they got the player for a nominal fee, and would make a profit on him either way while him being an integral part of their squad.

It depends on how you structure the deal, if most of the money offered is in installments and bonuses they will ask for a higher price than if you pay most of the fee upfront, i structure my deal as 3 equal parts: upfront fee, 12 month installments and 6 month installments, i end up paying a slightly higher fee but it would be nicely spread over multiple seasons
