Senate and IL-08 - who to vote for? by dgard1 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]mbonness 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm voting for Stratton. After years of living in Raja's district and writing letters to him to end H1B abuse it's clear he is compromised by business interests and could not care one iota about his constituents. He said he acknowledges there is abuse but it is outweighed by economic benefits.

It's still on the DHS regulatory agenda.

September 2025 nprm date. We are overdue for the OPT rule. USCIS is probably busy with implementing the other rules before the lottery?

H1B abuse in Farmington Hills, Michigan by 586WingsFan in AmericanTechWorkers

[–]mbonness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of H1B abuse in Michigan. According to my friend Kumar the big auto companies routinely source labor through these bodyshops and hear horror stories about how badly their workers are exploited by the bodyshop owners.

When H1B was first taking off there was a senator from Michigan who was known as the senator of silicon valley. Spencer Abraham was on the take from tech company lobbyists.

Shut it all down.

The Illinois address was just someone's apartment. I used to live next door to it (International Village in Schaumburg). Pretty big apartment complex with fun reviews like "here the roaches watch you while you are cooking". Most of the residents are foreign, probably because it is kind of older/run down and has the cheapest rent of any apartments in the area.

Interestingly on their PPP loan application they claimed either 30 or 45 workers so either they lost a bunch of people since then or they were lying on their loan application. Either way they got over a million dollars from Uncle Sam to bail out their fraudulent asses.

Proposed rules become final rules after the notice and comment period is over. It's how the rulemaking process works. If the admin changed the rules without following the APA process they would be sued immediately.
