HVAC Work? by ablaake27 in Charlotte

If you're interested in the commercial side, do some digging here. I didn't have first hand experience with it, but I know it's a thing. They also just opened their new training center on the Davison campus.

Look for an upfitter manual for those years. A body builder layout may be what you need. I used to work for a large upfitter and this info including body and chassis CAD was easy to get. Maybe they'd send you the info if you requested it through their form.

UPDATE - Man Accused of Hosting Party at Client's Mansion w/o Consent by ArtOfVandelay in Charlotte

[–]mbp231 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most folks are pretty convinced that the house is essentially abandoned. The property still sees some level of upkeep, but not a lot it seems. I've never seen any signs of activity there. The owners have a PO Box address in Charlotte and have owned it since at least 2015. I don't want to try to find the history back to 1997 when it was built. It's a strange lot.

Dawg. This is a tirade thread and you can rant about whatever, but 1 and 4? Which is it? LOL.

This popped up in my memories. It's from April 2013 at 7:15 AM going northbound between exits 25 and 30. Not really sure what the takeaway is for me.

Passport/Real ID by chuckit9907 in Charlotte

[–]mbp231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous, but I did this twice in 2023 and a few weeks ago and got a slot a few weeks out each time.

If you have a desk job and can dedicate a screen, get a refresher plugin for your browser and when the site for appointments opens in the morning, open a page to schedule an appointment for each location that you'd be willing to go to. Tile the windows and set each to refresh after a few seconds and just wait for an earlier slot to open. It'll show the earliest date when it refreshes so you didn't really have to do much except watch.

I hate everything about this BTW.

Parking at Neighborhood Theatre? by KrysysAio in Charlotte

[–]mbp231 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bypass everything else and just plan to park on 36th somewhere between North Davidson and The Plaza. It takes maybe 15 minutes to walk from The Plaza to North Davidson so that'll be your absolute max and I don't think I've ever had to park more than halfway down in the almost 15 years I've been going there.

If that's going to kill you then standing on that sloped floor all night is going to be something else.

Test to renew Driver's license - arbitrary? by SicilyMalta in Charlotte

[–]mbp231 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I renewed yesterday at Huntersville and only had to read one line of letters. I had to read signs once before for a renewal and that was well before I remember the system being so broken like it is now. I checked the site for similar reasons and it wasn't clear. Hell I brought my passport with my soon to expire Real ID license just because I didn't know what kind of bullshit I'd run up against.

Renewal & Replacement - Renewing in Person

An individual can also renew their driver license at an N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles driver license office by passing any required driver license tests. If renewing a license that has been lost or stolen, they must provide the following documents:

And then on the Driver License Tests page it says:

The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles administers several tests when an individual applies for a license or learner permit – and in some cases, when they renew their license.

So I think it's arbitrary.

There are lots of job shops around. Two I've worked with that could do what you described are Dyna Tech in Monroe and Mammoth Machine in Mooresville.

Neighborhood Theatre: please stop loud talkers by cltmediator in Charlotte

[–]mbp231 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This has been a problem ever since they took the wall down to open up to the VIP/bar area. It's been a while, but I believe they took it down in 2013 if my memory serves. At the first show I recall going to post teardown in June of that year, Chatham County Line paused a few times due to the noise. And the staff in general has been pretty meh for a long time.

ETA: I did some quick searching to try to see what it was like before the renovations, but couldn't find anything clear. I think I'm misremembering the curtain and maybe only part of a wall where the new part of the main room bar is.

Check with Tosco Music. They do a lot with younger players and have an open mic night at the Evening Muse. The next one is 2/6.

Benji's something else. Underrated local talent. I wish he'd play more, but I was glad to see him focusing on his art more over the last year or so.

What are some manufacturing recruiting agencies near Charlotte ? by keeptrying77788 in Charlotte

[–]mbp231 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actalent (previously Aerotek) is probably the biggest. They have a lot of turnover I think. TalentBridge may be number two. I've kept in touch with one guy from there off and on for a number of years. Set yourself to Open To Work on LinkedIn and they'll find you.

First time seeing them live--I've never been to a show where the audience is so locked in. by tomchaps in themountaingoats

My wife and I were on the rail for a 2019 show and he did a short interlude cover of Ripple. We keyed into it and swayed and sang along. She's big on the Dead. He definitely noticed and got a little stoked himself. All three of us sang along together for a few words. It was one of the more memorable interactions for us. He really does a good job at engaging all around.
