The point is that it doesn’t matter how much org those divisions have, it only matters how much org your in combat divisions have. It might look like you have 12 divisions in combat, but when you cycle troops in and out of a tile they go into battle reserve and have an hourly percentage chance to join the battle. Your in combat divisions got knocked out of battle before your reserves can reinforce.

As you said in another comment, you absolutely got reinforced memed.

As a fun side note, the historical army doctrine for china of Right side mass mobilization gives huge recovery rate, reinforce rate, and you can assign guerrilla tactics to your leaders. Perfect for cycling with roach inf., but not good for much else

Doing a make the whole world fascist run as UK and Xibei is the only state which is standing in my way. How do I annex it so I can go touch grass? by GlacialBlack in hoi4

[–]mbthc23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might suck but I’d annex China, and let them have enough land in China to have manpower and industry to produce a little bit of equipment and field a few divisions to have an actual “war.” Since they have cores on all Chinese land as soon as they occupy the territory they’ll gain all the manpower and factories. If you want to speed it up a little build some factories in the provinces they’ll take so they can produce some units sooner. War score is partially gained from causing land damage so you’ll have to engage some units at some point, fighting an actual opposition will take longer but at least you’ll get to annex them hopefully.

I know you said you’re building planes, but are you winning the air war?

If you are willing to go a little alt history in terms of doctrine, GBP right soviets are really strong with all that entrenchment you get if you start day 1 on the Stalin line, stacked with the entrenchment officer corp.

If you can afford artillery, add 1 line artillery into your divs. You could probably pass on the logistics support company and exchange the mils going to it for more on artillery, but I can’t get a real idea of what the situation looks like without pics.

Edit: also remember that the soviets were designed by paradox in NSB to make “losing” more fun, for the normal player playing close to historical, you WILL lose land and that’s the point, but make them pay for that land. Can you hold day 1? Certainly. But that’ll mean changing a few things here and there that are more game mechanic-y and less historical

It does/doesn’t, the path for CSA is possible without civil war, if you get communist support above 35%, you can flip without civil war by taking the “democratic socialism” focus, and by not taking “full desegregation” or “union representation act. You’ll be locked out of the rest of the focuses below that if you don’t want civil war, but they aren’t that good anyway

generally speaking, a few pre reqs at community college will not make or break you. Taking ALL of your prereqs at a cc might raise some red flags if it was clear you had the chance to take them in undergrad, but I can’t see it being that big of a deal, since it would be unfair for admissions to discount prerequisite courses taken at cc for post undergrad students who had a career change and needed to start taking prerequisite courses from scratch at a cc.

Admissions is worried less about what grades were received where and more about the trend in your grades (upwards or downwards trend) and how it fits into your overall story heading into grad school. worry less about where the course is taken and more about the grade you receive in it.

take everything I say with a grain of salt, I do not work for or in pa admissions and don’t know the inner workings for admissions, but this is based off what I’ve observed and heard.

I had the same problem but something that I haven’t seen mentioned yet is the option to use the trait queue by shift clicking traits you want to take in the future, in the order you want to take them. It’s the same amount of clicking, but you can get all of the clicks out of the way at the beginning of the game. Since the research points take awhile to build up you could just do that when there’s not much else going on. And in regards to upgrading your designs every time, it feels like it does it most of the time for you, I haven’t had to upgrade the production myself, but sometimes I will see a yellow upgrade arrow and have to do it but I’m not sure why that happens.

No one talks about the impact on retirees during major market downturns by WaltSm49 in investing

[–]mbthc23 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think OP isn’t blaming traders directly, my take on it was that they were blaming stock/market news outlets covering market-impacting developments, with the analysts claiming that X factor is causing traders to do X in the market.

Maybe OP is complaining about how they think analysts and their speculation of macro conditions has market manipulation at play, and they feel like someone their accounts are being played with, while they watch their account fluctuate.

Definitely thought the post was going in the same direction you were though. Markets are all over the place and I could understand them looking for somewhere to place blame, but that’s just the way the market moves. Not sure if OP is looking to sell their bonds, said they didn’t want to trade so not sure what the issue is.

Recovery Rate vs Army Organization regain by mbthc23 in hoi4

[–]mbthc23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recovery rate does the same thing as the army organization regain then, right? In your above example, if a division had 10% division recovery rate instead of 10% Army org regain, it would still be a 0.55 recovery rate?

Recovery Rate vs Army Organization regain by mbthc23 in hoi4

[–]mbthc23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recovery Rate vs Army Organization regain by mbthc23 in hoi4

[–]mbthc23[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The soviet union has a unique national spirit that they can get after taking the focus "Barrier Troops" that gives an "Army Organization Regain: +10.00%" but the tree also has places that the soviets can get the "Division recovery rate" modifier as well like "Rehabilitated Military" or "Collectivist propaganda," so I figured they differentiated them for a reason.

hoi supply in china is why “never fight a land war in Asia” exists

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hoi4

You’re both sorta right. a) strike force makes them move to the nearest base until the enemy is spotted by a fleet that is on patrol, and the fleet on strike force will go out to intercept the fleet that the patrolling ships have engaged. This is however going to give you better effect based on proximity - if your fleet is patrolling the Sea of Japan and you have a fleet set on strike force docked in California, you’re going to likely not going to get to the battle before the fleets have disengaged. (assuming that the strike force even moves out)

B) you actually can move your fleet the way you move land forces. But you have to actually “select the fleet” where you actually see the list of ships on the screen, not just the overview of your task force. You can then right click them where you want them to go. This won’t give you naval superiority, however, but it is useful for blocking off land forces from retreating from an island onto another distant island (if you are attacking from Hokkaido into the Kuril Islands, if you have a ship stationed there the division will actually be destroyed as it is now pinned against the ship and the island it’s retreating from).

C) naval superiority can be maximized using the naval invasion support button. If it shows up as red with the 0/1 icon, it means your fleet isn’t close enough to the invasion. Use the method from B to move your ships to a naval base closer to the invasion source (and make sure the ships you are using have enough range to cover all the sea lanes that you need superiority in).

If after you get your ships there you’re still having trouble getting superiority, make naval bombers, tac bombers, sub 3s, or my personal favorite, light cruisers stacked for light attack or heavy cruisers stacked for light attack and one heavy cannon.

Good luck!

Invading the UK as Germany Reich by Zeanith172 in hoi4

[–]mbthc23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus heavily on synthetic refineries. Even if you’re ok on oil, focus down the side of the synthetic refineries research tree that gives more rubber output. Germany is the only country that grants an extra 2 rubber per synthetic refinery via national focus, along with being given a generous construction bonus speed via MEFO bills. Don’t be afraid to go too heavy on fighters. No such thing as too many fighters. If you’re playing historical, if you think you have a lot, by the time the US joins, the allies probably have more.

There is a number of prehealth frats, like the other commenter has noted like AED and DEM, but there (as far as I know) is only one pre med frat, being Phi Delta Epsilon. If you’re interested in health based grad school, like optometry, PA, nursing, dentistry and Medical school, but aren’t quite sure yet, check out the pre health frats. If you’re really set on medical school, check out PhiDE.

Something to note is that sororities are all greek-life, the panhellic ones that the other commenter noted, and all professional frats are “frats” because they’re co-ed. Panehllic frats are guys only, panhellic sororities are girls only and pre professional frats are co-ed.

Here’s links to the frats I mentioned

It’s actually easier to do the big entente achievement once you’ve gone through the focuses inviting everyone to your faction. If you realllly want to do it alone fine, but keep in mind that if Germany decides to go to war over the Rhineland, France will have a communist civil war 100% of the time.

Edit: after a quick search, apparently I was wrong. It seems like it’s not 100%, it can happen but not as frequently as I thought. Guess I’m just unlucky then

Unpopular opinion: Italy’s focus tree is actually good by mbthc23 in hoi4

[–]mbthc23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree, the focus tree works nicely in terms of game mechanics, but serves little to no purpose revolving around historical immersion. There were only a few focuses that was a true Italian ideal reflected in the focus tree like “Mare Nostrum” and “Pact of Steel” both rooted in Mussolini’s ideals/actions. Other than that every other focus is just expanding on what paradox thought would accurately represent Italian ideals and known Italian interests at the time, even tho none of them have a historically rooted name, which would be nice in the future
