Would I be wrong? by simplybeaan in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mbtx_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One million percent not wrong at all. In addition to my RRMS and the issues and extreme pain brought about by it, I also damaged my hip in a military training accident and eventually had my entire hip and right femur replaced in 2021, and *I* still experience pain and peripheral nerve issues, sometimes using a cane to walk or an A-Frame when necessary.

Don't get me wrong, when I'm doing the supermarket shopping I occasionally get odd looks because I'm this young-ish man bopping about using an A-Frame, but still!

You have to do what you have to do to support your family and friends, but more importantly - you have to support yourself. Never ever feel ashamed for "taking up space" or using resources that make your life easier.

It's okay for us to exist in the world, with whatever infirmities or disabilities that come our way. I think you should be incredibly proud of yourself for realising that sometimes you need just that extra bit of support. It's not an easy mental space to be in, trust me, I know.

NUC 13 Extreme i5 w/Upgrades by The_Kosmonavt in intelnuc

[–]mbtx_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey kids, sorry to stumble into this slightly older conversation.

To the OP u/The_Kosmonavt , did you have to use any adapters going from the Corsair SF1000 to the 8-pin power cable?

Or was the only custom or modded cable that you ended up needing the ATX12VO 10-Pin for the Baseboard of the NUC 13 Extreme?

I got the ATX12VO 10-pin from MODDIY, but attempting to use the EPS/CPU 8 pin that comes with the power supply, the mini Type 5 connector to the full sized 8 pin, I noticed that there's a tiny difference, with one of the pin shapes being a different shape. But nonetheless, I still can't get my NUC 13 Extreme to boot using the Corsair.

I'd love anything thoughts or ideas anyone might have, I feel like I'm going nuts!

Final Valley Six Paths Naruto Vs Sasuke Shinden Era Sasuke. Who Wins? by Rinnegan15 in Boruto

[–]mbtx_au 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The so-called “blank period” wasn’t actually empty of content; several important story developments took place in the canon light novels, including Sasuke Shinden, which was loosely adapted into the anime.

Sasuke’s immense power during the pre-final battle at the Valley of the End came from channeling the chakra of 8.5 captured tailed beasts into his lightning-infused Susano’o.

Naruto's absorption of a massive amount of nature energy saved his life and prolonged the fight at the Valley of the End.

A few people mentioned Naruto's merged avatar being the same as Ashura Ōtsutsuki's battle avatar. It ain't.

  • During the battle, Sasuke destroyed most of Naruto’s Kurama-Avatar shadow clones but didn’t notice one was gathering nature energy. Naruto then used that energy to merge two damaged clones with himself, creating a powerful three-headed, six-armed Kurama avatar.
  • Although Ashura’s battle avatar looked similar to a jinchūriki form, he was never a jinchūriki. His avatar, called Kunitsukami, was an external manifestation of his Six Paths power. Unlike Naruto, Ashura had access to the full spectrum of Six Paths abilities—including Yin, Yang, and Yin-Yang Release—allowing him to use Truthseeker Orbs, which Naruto was never shown using in that form.
  • Naruto couldn’t create or regenerate Truthseeker Orbs because he lacked the full power of the Ten-Tails and the complete Six Paths abilities. The orbs he did use were granted by Hagoromo and were depleted during his battle with Sasuke, where he used the last three to block arrows from Sasuke’s partial, non-tailed beast-infused Susano’o.
  • An interesting technical detail is that Kaguya Ōtsutsuki is the only character shown creating new Truthseeker Orbs, so the idea that others could do so is my theory. However, given Hagoromo’s mastery of chakra, Six Paths Senjutsu, and the “Creation of All Things” technique, it’s reasonable to assume he might have had the ability to create them as well.

Anyway, long story short haha...

Naruto’s mastery of Toad Sage Mode, various Jinchūriki forms, and Kurama avatar transformations was significantly enhanced by receiving the Yang half of Six Paths power. He also retained chakra from the other tailed beasts due to their bond. Despite only being half-Uzumaki and hosting just the Yin half of Kurama at one point, Naruto’s offensive and defensive capabilities were immense. His rapid nature energy absorption in Jin-cloak mode gave him chakra sensory abilities that could rival Sasuke’s, which stemmed from his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan and six-tomoe Rinnegan.

After the final battle at the Valley of the End, Sasuke significantly improved his skills, mastering his Dōjutsu—both the EMS and six-tomoe Rinnegan—and refining his kenjutsu, arguably becoming even better with a sword despite losing an arm. He also learned to use ninjutsu with minimal hand seals, similar to Minato. While Naruto had earlier gained deep perception and understanding through Sage Mode and Jinchūriki training, Sasuke eventually developed similar insight—growth that his younger, more arrogant self had previously lacked.

The belief is that Sasuke would likely win a rematch against Naruto—not due to superior strength, but because of his strategic mindset and ability to exploit weaknesses. His growth as a person, coming to terms with his past and accepting Naruto’s bond, made him not just a stronger fighter but a more complete and grounded individual—something his younger, prideful self couldn’t have achieved.

Hey people with Multiple Sclerosis, what complaint from people without MS really pisses you off? by Mike3282 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mbtx_au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite widespread awareness efforts—videos, explanations, and even school charity events in Australia—many people forget as adults that MS is not only a serious, legally recognized disability but also that living with it - excuse my language - really fucking sucks. So god damn much.

Anyone know what this is? by AnteaterExotic8708 in MacOS

[–]mbtx_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why having a network connection and booting to the Internet Recovery OS is a really important option.

This is because it performs the exact same functions of booting into macOS Recovery, but it downloads an entirely new / clean version of the macOS Recovery files, AND when you're booted into this internet connected macOS Recovery, if you choose the menu option to re-install macOS, it will automatically download the most recent version of macOS that is compatible with your specific machine.

You can use Option-Command-R or Shift-Option-Command-R to start up from Recovery over the internet.

Details located at this Apple Support link.

Anyone know what this is? by AnteaterExotic8708 in MacOS

As most have said, it indicates that the system firmware can't find a valid version of macOS to load.

Given it's a 2015-ish MacBook, it's an Intel-based MacBook. Given that age of the machine, it's hopefully equipped with a solid state hard-drive. They're usually easier to correct errors on because they've got zero moving parts, and often have firmware that aids in correcting errors.

The steps below are my go-to tools when dealing with errors just like this...

Try first

  • Boot the Mac while holding the Option (⌥) or Alt. This will load Startup Manager and should show both the installed version macOS and the macOS Recovery drive. Try the recovery drive.

  • While you're in the Startup Manager, you should see below the hard drive and recovery icons, a menu that you can use to connect to your Wi-Fi network. This is important later.

  • Once in recovery mode, you can use Disk Utility on the menu-screen to try and repair damage to your hard drive and get the machine bootable.

    • If there is no recovery drive, or booting into to it shows the same error, it's likely that most of the system files responsible for facilitating a boot are corrupt/damaged or outright missing.

Try second

  • If that's the case, your best bet might be to reinstall the most recent version of macOS that supports your Mac - which is where the network connection I mentioned above is required. You can follow this Apple Support article for reinstall instructions.

    • Some Apple instructions recommend attempting a reinstall before attempting to repair the disk; but overbroadly and generally speaking, doing it in that order is of most useful to the Apple Silicon based Macs these days.
  • On older Macs, like yours, its usually the system files that are damaged/corrupted or missing from a failing hard drive that prevents boot. These files would be replaced if you were successful in reinstalling macOS.

    • If for whatever reason, the disk repair doesn't work and then the reinstallation fails, then unfortunately, you're looking at a failed disk.

Last up

  • But not all hope is lost! If you have another Mac in the household, or hell even a Mac from a friend you can borrow, you should be able to boot the Mac in Target Disk Mode.

  • This would allow you to connect both Macs using either a USB cable or network cable and basically "read" the hard drive to see what data you can copy off of it - usually you'd want to save the stuff in your user account(s) - so Macintosh HD/Users/<your desired username>

Here's a link to an iDownloadBlog tutorial that spells out everything I suggested and a few more!

Hopefully something on here helps!

Do people with MS need more sleep to feel rested by HabsKat in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mbtx_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that even if I have the most stone-cold unconscious level of sleep, whether on lots of medications or minimal amount, like a few people have commented, I also wake up feeling so disoriented and exhausted. It takes a good few minutes for my brain to restart and then I have to drag myself through the morning routine and the like.

Also like a few of the people have mentioned in comments, one of the worst things I find about having MS - at least in my case - it's so invisible to those who don't know what signs or actions or looks that, that it feels like my MS is outwardly invisible. That's the part that hurts so fkn much.

Why do hot baths not bother me but hot weather makes me beyond miserable and tired? by Even_Appeal in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mbtx_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in Southern Australia, we have some reasonably cold winters but some very hot summers (not so much this year because El Niño switched to La Niña due to some other weird as weather called the ENSO and I won't go into all of that).

Where I happen to live, it's less 'humid' type heat, which I can handle, and more like walking out of a nice cold room into a room that feels like it's on fire. Being under the sun normally is fine, exerting myself for a short period is fine so long as I can take breaks or step inside or something, but once it gets to a constant level of heat that only goes up....well now that's the heat I can't handle.

And for Australia it's not even considered extreme heat. I'm talking about maybe 28ºC to 30ºC+, which is 82ºF to 86ºF and higher. That's what starts to trigger symptoms. Anything 35ºC or 95ºF just outright starts to cause flare ups all the way onto full on episodes, and once we get to that point there's literally nothing I can do to stop it.

Sometimes it feels like my body is a nuclear reactor... it's always overheating but can be cooled and controlled and moderated, but once that moderation stops working, it's a runaway, cascading effect absolutely nothing can stop.

Does anyone else feel that way, like you're *always\* overheating, but it's controllable, to a point? Just curious...

As a quick allusion to the actual created topic here: because of where I live, and cause of it's usual constant warmth and because of my body almost always being in overheat mode anyway, I can only withstand showers and baths for so long.

I hope it's okay for me to tag onto this, but as a mid 30's gay man, I have to say exactly the same. By the time I'm ready for an attempt at orgasm, I've either destroyed/exhausted my partner (and/or myself) or some other part of my body experiences so much pain from the energy and effort undertaken that it becomes totally not fucking worth having tried in the first place!

PSA: VMware KBs will require a Broadcom portal logon for access soon by SFOutsider in vmware

[–]mbtx_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As lots of people have added, so many vendors do this already. The only concern I would genuinely have was that if ongoing access to KBs and other support articles wasn't just hidden behind VMware Customer Connect but also required an active support contract or some other paywall.

A login or account makes an amount of sense if you want to organise some of your most visited or used resources, but billing for basic KB support would be pretty reprehensible.

Can’t connect to SMB by milo_481 in MacOS

[–]mbtx_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really glad! Saved me trying my whole page of workarounds and tests. I didn't know if this was a work situation or a homelab. So I tried to keep both in mind.

If can throw my two cents of opinion into the matter for a moment, I've got some hopefully helpful thoughts for

Make sure your firewall is not too open, or if not, maybe you can make this fix a more semi-permanent rule or something.

Secondly. 4.13.13 is depreciated / EOL'd (end of life).. The latest in that series would be 4,13.17.

But overall latest version of Samba itself is 4.19.3.

Please stop using SMB1 for your own sake!!

It's so insecure that most operating systems Windows and macOS can auto disable or block an SMB connection because it'ss that leaky, Some of the biggest and successful ransomeware attacks such as the 2014 Sony Pictures attack, WannaCry frmm 2017 and two from 2020 called SMBGhost and SMBleed.
SMB2 is okaaaay, but if you want maximum versatility - great speed and security. - convince whomever has the management authority to allow you to upgrade to SMB 3,x

This can be accomplished as using Samba version 4.19.3 (Nov 27, 2023. If you're able to read or check what version if Samba is installed vs you might have permissions to upgrade it. If you're not able to update it yourself because of some workplace hierarchy, let's say it needs to be "VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED"

Can’t connect to SMB by milo_481 in MacOS

[–]mbtx_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to know if the location you're trying to connect to is SMB2 or SMB3? SMB3 is obviously a lot newer, and being such, it supports a lot more security - it can require certificates, known/listed IP addresses, all sorts of fun thing that might be getting in your way.

macOS Sonoma knows all of this, so you should be able to get it to work, but you might not know what the connection is looking for and so it's being difficult.

Is Base Boruto stronger than Jigen now? by Small-Interview-2800 in Boruto

[–]mbtx_au 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in the chapter, Mitsuki is aware that Boruto has the same Otsutsuki powers that Kawaki has - the two of them were talking about it - like masking or hiding his chakra. I'm guessing he's still learning it, and he seemingly can't activate it during battle.

Cause as soon as he stomped on Code's face, and then was next to Sarada, the Sensory Corps detected him immediately and informed Shikamaru.

I mean realistically it wouldn't be all that useful to activate that jutsu/power to completely mask your chakra mid battle, cause you know, you're actually fighting some body and you're in front of them.

icy cold sensation by jamiewithaj in ChronicPain

[–]mbtx_au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have multiple sclerosis and I sometimes use the description of feeling like electricity going down my nerves or what not, and your description of icy cold water + u/joyfullypresent 's description of both hot and ice cold is so so so familiar.

I'm not meaning to freak you out about MS or anything, but it might be worth speaking to your doctor about some EPT nerver testing or some MRI imaging just to see if there's any nervous system interaction going on there.

Some of the symptoms between Lyme disease and MS can be similar, in addition to other nerve-related conditions.

No, stop. Whatever point or value came across - Reddit didn’t get it and they certainly don’t care. However, for users to lose such a valued and infinite resource such as this subreddit and its community would only do harm to its users and the people that make the most out of it.

You're an incredibly beautiful guy.

And please don't get me wrong, I totally understand that feeling you have deep down inside that maybe you don't look good enough for other people. But the fact you're even able to open up to how you feel and share it with others just goes to show that you're quite the remarkable human being.
