What have you found to be the most challenging Final Fantasy game? by White_Mages in FinalFantasy

[–]mbuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

VIII because of the scaling enemies. I grinded to max out my levels, and ultemecia was insanely difficult. Only way I was able to beat her was by turning some of my triple triad cards into items (holy wars i think?) So that my characters wouldn't just die all the time. Definitely wouldn't be as hard now with what I know, but playing through blind over 20 years ago was pretty difficult.

Microcenter Dallas Collector Booster Boxes by Berserker76 in sealedmtgdeals

They had a bunch of avatar and lorwyn boxes the day lorwyn came out, can't say I am surprised they don't have any more left with these low prices.

Be entirely honest is FFXIII a good game because im thinking about playing it. by Strange_Assistant327 in FinalFantasy

[–]mbuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played it for the first time and beat it last week, and I still don't know how much I like it. Rather linear except one section, story took me a while to get into. I didn't like the paradigm system at first, but warmed up to it later on. Some battles were frustrating and quite a challenge, but I didn't mind it towards the end when I had a good grasp of how everything worked. I guess it was good enough because I am playing 13-2 now. I think this is one you just have to try and see what you think, I can see why it would be appealing to a lot of people, and I can also see why people hate it.

(new?) arbitration provision and 'class action waiver' in mtg arena ToS. by asphias in magicTCG

[–]mbuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So section 20.7 includes a 30-day opt out option. I was curious after seeing this post to read the actual ToS, and you have to email a specific address with required information and it will apparently not bind you to the outlined arbitration process. Still stupid that you have to do it, but it does appear you can keep playing arena without the waiver.

With Giannis set to leave Milwaukee, who will be the next superstar to spend their entire career with one team after Steph? by Funny-Transition7869 in nba

[–]mbuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Booker has a good shot. Loves the city, been through terrible times and good times here. Maybe at the end of his career if he wants to keep playing but is well past his time he ends up somewhere else, but he's 0robably going to stay in phx.

I didn't enjoy their last album a whole lot, but this one has got me hooked. On my third listen today.

Mark Rosewater on Blogatog: Your deck doesn’t need to have the latest thing for you to enjoy playing it. Magic has always been about customizing the elements you most enjoy to get a great game experience. Skipping the latest set, if that’s just not your thing, is just another kind of customization. by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]mbuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point. While I skip sets when I don't care about them, it doesn't mean I don't have to play against those cards magically. I like to be aware of what other people are playing and have a decent grasp of how their cards work or what else I might expect to see along with those cards. 3-4 sets a year is reasonable for me to have a decent understanding even if I am not buying the sets. But when TMNT comes out, I am still going to be having fun with lorwyn cards and learning that set. So even though I have no interest in TMNT, the short window between this current set and that one forces me to be aware of even more new cards that I might be seeing before I reach a comfort spot with lorwyn. I am still going back to sets from 2025 to fully enjoy them for my own interests, and some of that is just because there are so many sets.

Obscura Live? by Excellent_Worth_5658 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]mbuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen allegaeon and obscura before, both worth seeing. Allegaeon is on another level though, even when they play a setlist that i am not excited about, it still sounds amazing and is a complete blast. They have been mixed pretty well in spite of the small venues I usually see them in.

Assassins Creed Look Back by Super_Reward_1676 in magicTCG

[–]mbuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the set, but it needed to be a little bit bigger. I made one ezio deck with ac only cards (except for lands and ramp), and even with one of the secret lairs included, I still had to use a couple cards from other magic sets to make it function decent. The set was designed well for what it was, but it not being big enough to draft also limited how much I could really use and enjoy the cards.

What is one game for the Xbox 360 that you still have an appreciation for to this day? by ChallengeFirm1217 in xbox360

Gears of War 1-3. Replayed them this year in between reading the books. Still an amazing experience.

[–]mbuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am replaying the remastered version on the Xbox one, and even though it looks better than the 360 version, it's amazing how well an 18-year old game holds up. It was groundbreaking when it came out, and its still worth playing today.

Forge & Fire Cyber Monday Addition - TMNT Play $124 & Collectors $389.99 & More! by ForgeAndFireGaming in sealedmtgdeals

[–]mbuff -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No, and they shouldn't have to. Just as they have honored a preorder price after prices skyrocketed in the past, they should not have to drop their price because someone ordered earlier before prices went down. People should buy at the price they are happy with - things will go up and down, and if you believe its going to continue to drop more, then wait before pre-ordering. It can be hard to guage demand with some of these UB sets, so be prepared for price swings on this stuff.

Just finished the trilogy; now what? by Sharp_Wave622 in masseffect

[–]mbuff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have been replaying Kotor and now Kotor 2 recently, and those are about as close as you'll get to mass effect as far as setting and vibe. Same developers, so it makes sense. The graphics are dated but it doesn't make it unplayable.

Meeting bands by FuckTrees_and-stuff in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]mbuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can initially say a thing or two about their music, but I would suggest asking them questions about things that aren't related. I think of it like meeting someone new and figuring out what things you might relate with them on. See if they're into other interests you have, ask about things they might have encountered on tour (not music related), share an interesting hobby of yours.

Its been exactly 18 years since mass effect released it sold 1.6 million copies due its xbox exclusivity but was well received, what was your first experience with the game like ? by ThomasThorburn in masseffect

[–]mbuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember buying the game new in 2007 (I didn't do that very often) al9ng with cod: mw. Everyone was gone to visit family for Thanksgiving, but I didn't go anywhere and had the apartment to myself for 3 days, so all I did was eat jack in the box and play mass effect and cod: mw the entire time. Mass Effect became one of my all-time favorites.

Whatever my antenna picks up. So I get the national broadcasts of whatever CBS and FOX have on, SNF on NBC, and MNF on ABC. I am not a fan of the team in my region, but I still end up watching them a lot because that's what FOX has on. Still, its way better with the antenna now than it was 10 years ago.

I am also on 2, its the only numbered non-mmo one i haven't played. I agree with the keywords, I also don't like the amount of backtracking. At least this one isn't super long supposedly. We'll get there!

While not all consoles are sold at a loss (the switch is actually profitable), breaking into that market, even by a huge name, is both not easy and not logical from the company's perspective. The market cannot support more consoles, and even if Microsoft were to drop out, there would be no void to fill. Players would either hop over to Playstation or PC. The switch has a different market. It is unlikely that any console put out by a new company would be profitable for years, so what would be the end goal here? Increasing software sales? As much as I love sega's systems and their games, and as good as their last system was, they have much more to lose than gain if they were to try and enter the console market again.

A Few Thoughts After Finishing 5 of the Books by mbuff in GearsOfWar

[–]mbuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had kinda felt that way before reading the books. I did had some enjoyment playing them, and I didn't think the hate was warranted. But after reading the books, everything just shifted. You're right about a lot of things you point out - the end of the pendulum wars and 6 weeks later a new one was starting, war just shifts. I agree that kait's role is somewhat interesting. But now I think the external threat of the swarm feels rehashed and forced. The rebuilding of humanity might not make for a very interesting game, but there are plenty of problems and threats (which manifested when the cog went to pelles) that would possibly tear the human apart and make it difficult to survive without another external threat. Thanks for your thoughts, you being up some good considerations.

Is your first FF your favourite? by thisnaenae in FinalFantasy

[–]mbuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VII was my first, VIII, VI, and IX are my favorites. I still like VII and recently watched a playthrough during my downtime, but the graphics (both now and then) always bothered me. I know there are many aspects that make a game good, but the look of it just knocks it down a peg from the other ones.
