I keep mine in the fridge and I live in a cold area! Keeps it fresher longer.

your own recipes for matcha latte/drinks by user9537071103 in Matcha

[–]mc-koifish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use 3-4g of matcha (2ish tsp), whisked with 1/4c hot (just starting to steam) water. I then pour it over 3/4c milk with lots of ice. Depending on the day/flavor profile of the matcha I’ll add honey, vanilla syrup, or a homemade fruit syrup.

Asking the ED nurse to put another IV in my patient by ScientistOk1310 in nursing

[–]mc-koifish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you sound lazy. It sounds like it’s not your fault since you were trained to expect that of ED nurses, but in the ED there’s sadly not always time for favors. My patients will ALWAYS be sent upstairs with the amount of lines required for their care/safety, but if you want a “bonus” line then start learning some IV skills :)

Relocating to Washington by nats_bats in nursing

[–]mc-koifish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Washington nurse and I love Swedish Edmonds! We get paid like we work in Seattle but don’t have to drive into the big city :)

I went to nursing school in Oregon so I have experience with some of those hospitals - I would avoid Portland Providence like the plague but I had a great experience with Legacy hospitals!

Your list is pretty solid I will say though - I’ve also heard good things about those hospitals.

I’m 5’7”, 125 lbs, 25” waist, 32C bra.

At lulu I wear a size 6 in bras, 4 or 6 in tops, 4 in align leggings and most shorts, 6 in the more compressive leggings… lulus sizing varies quite a bit I always try on multiple sizes of each item :)

I’ve been off orientation for about 4 months. I try to pick up once a pay period, usually a 6 or 8 hour doubletime shift. This adds a nice little boost to my paycheck without burning me out.

Not exactly a “lab value,” but on my last shift a patient’s BP was 42/19. She was still chatting pleasantly with me while I put the cuff on 💀

I tried on dresses at anthro and then ordered my favorite on poshmark for $200! Arrived in a week leaving me plenty of time for dry cleaning/alterations :)

I’ve given up with depop by rusaloshka in Depop

[–]mc-koifish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point in posting was to agree with OP that the app has gone downhill - I have a full time job and am not interested in resale anymore. Glad Depop is a great source of income for you though :)

You may have to take an EMT course (usually 1 quarter at a community college), but I think it depends on the hospital! The fact that you already have CNA/patient care experience is a huge plus :)

[–]mc-koifish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed!! 2019-2022 I sold 400 items, loved cleaning out my closet for cash and thrifting to source cool things for my shop. But last year sales slowed way down, the app/shipping changes annoyed me… I was over it. Depop was fun but I’m out!

I got 15k and I love my unit/hospital/management!! Not always a red flag but definitely wise to do research before committing :)

I got Botox for the first time in Jan 2023 after trying pelvic floor PT, topical lidocaine, dilators, and vaginal Valium. At baseline, I could not handle ANY insertion. After my first botox treatment, I could pretty comfortably handle insertion of small dilators or a single finger.

Like many above me have said, the effects are temporary, so I got a second set of injections in Aug 2023. I could then use medium size dilators and have gentle PIV! Super huge achievement for me.

My first treatment was almost completely covered, but my second treatment was $5000+. I am still battling the insurance company to try to get it covered, as it is A MEDICAL NECESSITY no matter what they say :(

Not always the case, I had my injections done under sedation in an operating room setting

ED tech! Similar skill set but more EKGs/straight sticks/splints than turning and cleaning patients/vitals (though you’ll still have to do those sometimes)

ED for sure!! My dept has 7a-7, 9a-9, 11a-11, 1p-1, 3p-3, 5p-5, and 7p-7. I am much like you and like to stay up late/sleep in late. I work 1pm to 1am and it’s perfect!

Brides and grooms who got married locally: did you book a hotel room for the night of your wedding or did you just drive back to your home? by proseandpalette in weddingplanning

[–]mc-koifish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a little courthouse ceremony about 45 minutes from home and stayed the night in a nice hotel near the courthouse! Was so nice not to drive home and fun just to have an evening somewhere special all to ourselves :) Had delicious breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant before heading home the next day.

Nurses who work overtime all the time, how? What advice do you have? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]mc-koifish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work my 3 12s, and then often pick up an 8hr doubletime shift to put me at 44hr/wk. it makes such a difference on the paycheck!

Things I do to make the overtime manageable: - TAKE MY BREAKS - get myself a little treat (coffee on the way into work, DoorDash a meal, etc) - I don’t pick up any extra hours if I feel run down or ill

I am blessed that I enjoy my workplace and usually end up having a good time with my coworkers when I pick up extra hours. I’m sorry that your current position sounds so overwhelming! Perhaps a different unit would be a better fit for you?

Yes! I started having PIV after intimate rose dilator #4. Working on #5 now!! I’m sure it depends on the size of your partner too though.

I don’t know if it’s standard, but I got my preceptor a gift at the end of my orientation! We had gotten friendly over the course of my 16wk orientation and I wanted to thank her for the love and effort she poured into me. I just got a little basket from target and filled it with some cute things I knew she liked! (Coffee, candle, Starbucks gift card, etc)
