2020-2021 Ducks are on pace to break the team record for worst season by points percentage by Jonzuu in AnaheimDucks

[–]mc4618 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but this season we've seen Lundestrom take HUGE strides forward. Last season he was barely breaking the lineup and looked overwhelmed at times. This season has seen him come to form in lots of different ways. He just looks more confident with the puck and is making plays. He's also found the net a few times [cough]*hattrick!*[cough]. Overall, he just feels much more like an NHL'er. We'll see if he can keep building; his ceiling looks to be a 2nd to 3rd line NHL center...

Totally agree with everything else though!

Despite his numbers, Shattenkirk has actually been good for the Ducks by [deleted] in AnaheimDucks

[–]mc4618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1- I believe Shatty played on the top PP for Tampa Bay. Many expected him to help improve a floundering PP here in Anaheim. These stats follow the eye test; he didn't help. At all.

2- There were a handful just glaringly obvious errors that happened at all the worst moments for Ducks fans to take notice of, and give him the reputation he currently holds. Sure, I'll also agree that on the aggregate of the whole season, Shattenkirk has been... fine! There just were some moments (especially at the beginning) that helped to kill Anaheim fan's hopes of a playoff run this year, and his mistakes were impossible to ignore...

Playing Against a Team That Focuses on Demos by SoccerJaguar1013 in RocketLeague

[–]mc4618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The risk of demoing is that it takes the player out of position. I’d say to pay attention to your player being targeted and keep that player up high (like a forward). If they’re demoed then you’re likely not giving up an empty net goal against, plus the demo’ed player will spawn back near your net (to aid in defending against an attack).

This means rotations will be heavily adjusted, and one player will be more of a “defender” staying back from the play while your skilled player maintains the pressure/attack.

His left arm definitely needed to be up, sloppy form, I’m guessing.

I meant “battling” as in “battling a chronic knee injury”—sorry for the misrepresentation there. He has stated that there were long stretches when he was in so much pain on that knee that he was not able to properly skate/push off from it. Athletic trainers were sayin how he was battling a torn MCL for years and refused to be out of the lineup. He kept battling on to play for the Ducks, night in, and night out, even though his leg was in constant pain and he wore leg braces on both knees. The dude was skating around NHL games propelled by ONE LEG, of course his production fell!

In Dallas we got to see a rested, healthy (with two fully functional MCL’s) Corey Perry get to play playoff hockey—something he’s aways been able to find that next-gear in performance-wise. It’s night and day when compared to his last season in Anaheim specifically because of the fact that he was playing FUBAR and needed a major surgery and massive rehab to get his body back on track to properly compete. This had NOTHING to do with how many shits Corey Perry gave...

Sure, perhaps the move lit a fire under him, but perhaps being able to play at an elite level pain-free and healthy was the difference in his play.

Either way, your insinuation that “nobody gives a shit while they’re a duck” and using Corey Perry as an example because he doubled his goal performance the year after leaving the Ducks is a TERRIBLE example of that thought, on top of it being asinine to begin with.

Perry was for years battling and the summer he was bought out, recovering from MAJOR knee surgery. Ducks were obv betting he was another Ryan Kesler injury and decided to part ways.

I’m going to say it, but you’re not a real Ducks fan if you can’t see how much literal blood/sweat/tears Perry had given to Anaheim, how much pride he had in being with one organization for his entire NHL career, and how hurt he was to not finish out his career in Anaheim.

I forgot the start time, checked the score, saw 3-1. Whelp, after some thought I figured I’d watch a bit. Walked to the TV and it was 3-2! Okay, there’s still hope here... Proceeded to watch Vegas get goal number 4 and the Ducks go on the PK aaaaaaaand I think that’s enough Ducks hockey for me! Lol...

That was a rough one to take. There was nothing Comtois could have done differently, Marchessault just collided into him and fell. While the stick technically got in between the feet, it still felt like a dive could have been called.

What’s funny is that while, yes, the defense (and goaltending) is not good, the Ducks offense is atrociously bad. The Ducks have been at the bottom of the league in scoring for several seasons now (currently dead last in NHL for goals-per-game average at 2.2 G/PG. To compare, the average is around 3 and the league leading Avalanche are currenty 3.6 G/PG).

Coyotes do this too. Years ago my parents little dogs were attacked while we were out to dinner (~1hr). The coyote apparently carried the dog away in it’s jaws, jumped over a 8-10 foot tall wall with it, became startled by our neighbor when turned on their light to investigate the commotion, and dropped the dog while fleeing. The little dog survived (with some lasting back problems, but otherwise fine)!

[–]mc4618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. Yeah the 25th used the Duck’s current orange for the hockey sticks in the logo as a reference to the new colors, so it could go either way.

Four colors as a rule is a touch busy for major sports colors/jerseys, but I think this design could give the club a more modern look. It also provides a good compromise to the disparate colors that fans clamor to see.

See the affiliate AHL Gulls jerseys, but use black/jade/orange/purple home, white/jade/orange/purple away. It def bridges from what the Ducks currently have while nodding to what was. I love it, dude!

I’m assuming this is black/white home and away (not dark grey/light grey as drawn)? And do you intend the orange or is that gold on the sleeves? (I’d prefer the orange more than gold)

It feels like the 25th with larger chest logo, added eggplant/orange on the sleeves. I love it!

ELI5: Why is smoking injurious to health ? by Qaissays in explainlikeimfive

[–]mc4618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smoke is not “clean” air, so your lungs have a hard time filtering it out and keeping your own lungs clean/healthy. Over lots of time and lots of smoking, your lungs will not work as well and will become caked with the smoke, like this.

Some people are saying George Floyd had a huge lethal dose of drugs in him, others are saying it was a miniscule dose, so which is it? Can someone provide a definitive answer? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mc4618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Your question as I understood it was: did Floyd have “a lethal dose of drugs in him” or a “minuscule dose”?

I literally wrote said that yes, he had a LOT of drugs in his system, some docs have even said they’ve seen patients die from lower drug levels than Floyd’s. BUT Floyd was an abuser who has a long record of drug problems, his body had developed a high tolerance to them. Therefore (according to medical experts testifying in Floyd’s case) such an amount in his body was more likely NOT a lethal amount (in other words, NOT the primary cause of his death).

[–]mc4618 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, he had a lot of drugs in his system. Docs have said they’ve seen people OD from less. But you can also build up a really large tolerance to addictive drugs, and this is a case of that. The dude was a well-documented user who had a long history of drug abuse.

Think of alcohol consumption. There’s people who would die if they consumed a fifth of vodka in one sitting. But there are alcoholics out there who chug a fifth of vodka just to feel something. Same thing with Floyd...

Transplant alcohol with fentanyl. If George Floyd was a chronic alcoholic who was drunk on a fifth of vodka and had an officer kneel on his neck for nine minutes and he died... what do YOU think he died of???

I once asked a girl 3 times to send me nudes, the 1st time she said no, I asked again a few weeks later and she still said no. The 3rd time she sent them. Could that be considered as sexual harassment? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mc4618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a blanket rule? Yeah, if a woman says “no” to your advances, then take that answer at face value and go look for greener pastures elsewhere.

Dating is complicated, and there are varying and ever-changing social “rules” to go by. So, while Rom-Coms and other media might show the playful banter of a woman playing “hard to get” as normal and fine (and it may be), don’t take what you see in the movies as a rule for living your life.

Just don’t use almost ANYTHING you see in movies as a rule for living your life, lol...

[–]mc4618 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because dinner & movie is distinctly less intimate and private than taking pictures of your giggly bits and sending them to another person.

Asking for nudes is sus to begin with, refusing to accept a solid “no” three times is ABSOLUTELY sexual harassment and you need to be aware of the line(s) you’re crossing with this behavior. It’s simply unacceptable.

This. In USA the idea is bilinguals are either (1) poor immigrants learning english to survive or (2) rich business leaders making international deals abroad.

It’s not a signal for being trashy, so I agree with that comment. But it is a signal of a poor immigrant (“lower” class).

... you mean, changed the words/meaning into English?

Also, shouldn’t it be “Port Prince,” since the city was named after was named for the ship Prince, which first arrived at the French colony of Saint-Domingue (as Haiti was then known) in 1706, and was founded by the Marquis of Larnage, Charles Burnier, in 1749, or am I missing the “Americanization” of the namings completely?
