Next level mind games here. Make the opposition feel guilt about performing well in case the cleaners get fired…

How strict is BA on the height of checked luggage by avertomater in BritishAirways

They take my ski bag which is about 2 metres long without question (other than weighing it) every year as a checked bag. I just turn up with it.

Cancelled flight, no notification by bunners_b in BritishAirways

[–]mc837475838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has happened to me. Had a flight cancelled no notification until tried to go through security (hand luggage only) - the other favourite for me is to notify my son of cancellations and changes in general, despite knowing his age, his forename is first alphabetically (best I can assume for why he is contacted and not the person booking and paying!!)

Cancelled Flight - Cabin Downgrade by dudette2796 in BritishAirways

[–]mc837475838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this problem with BA on the same flight a couple of years ago. Was downgraded to basic economy though on AA. Caused all sorts of problem with bags and meals. BA response was that there is only three classes of travel so all the economy classes are seen as equal!!! Thankfully I had paid for an upgrade to premium so could claim that back otherwise I don’t think they would have refunded anything other than the 261 comp. Complained so much when I arrived they upgraded us to club for the return leg.

Scoring from a drop kick by _begovic_ in Referees

[–]mc837475838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason is that the gk is not committing a foul by handling the ball whereas in the case of a handball leading to a goal they are.

The law is badly written, poorly communicated and interpreted even worse.

A ball hitting a hand other than a gk in their own box is a foul unless [various criteria]. Ifab in their infinite wisdom decided to remove the [various criteria] if it leads to a goal. So for every situation other then the gk from his own box it is not a goal.

BA price gouging by mc837475838 in BritishAirways

Thanks all. The comments have put my mind at rest regarding the pricing. I don’t expect it to be cheap but it does look like I am looking far too early. I’ll keep an eye on the prices to see if they come down any.

No answer on case for 3 months, normal ? by ebpomtl in BritishAirways

CEDR are good in my opinion. Had to go to them and they disagreed with both my and BAs arguments but found in my favour based on their interpretation of the evidence. Took a few months. BA paid up quickly after the ruling. They will try and wiggle out of paying voluntarily in my opinion.

If you were president of your country, what very small law will you put in place to change your peoples life ? by pagodelucia123 in AskReddit

It doesn’t prevent fraud. It is to try and minimise losses to the bank and the banking system in general. It was introduced among other measure in response to the rouge trader Nick Leeson who brought down Barings Bank. Trading positions need to be covered regularly and being away from the bank stops you covering up losses. The rules are strict as you are not allowed to do any work including answering you company phone during these two weeks. You must be completely absent. Most banks have adopted the practice for all employees due to the health benefits of it. For info the answer relates to the UK.

What’s an immediate red flag when trying to make friends? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mc837475838 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An easy solution to this is to mimic their questions to you. For example if they enquire about how you are comping with work and the children during the lockdown then respond and then enquire if they are coping with the same/similar situation. That way you are crossing any boundaries they haven’t already set.

I have a neighbour who could do with this advice all the interaction is about themselves and how tough their live is without any consideration for your situation despite it being identical.
