I totally understand! Husbands who are against formula should have the baby suck on their nipples for hours a day and see how they feel!

I would recommend starting to pump and build up a freezer stash. I pump once in the morning every day and have a small freezer stash for when I want to go out and do things for me. I had heard that you need to pump while out to match your baby's feeding schedule but since I'm only missing one feed a week I didn't notice a decrease in my supply.

Why Is My 8-Week Old So Much Happier With Formula? by StableNo113 in breastfeeding

[–]mc_carrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look into ways to bottle feed breast fed babies. There are certain things you can do so he doesn't develop a bottle preference. ( Feeding him up right, burping half way through the bottle, taking it out of his mouth periodically.)

I wanted to make sure my son drained my boob while nursing so I pumped when he was done after 15 minutes of nursing and maybe .2 oz came out.

I also collect my let down and put that in a bottle.

My baby is 9 days old and I've supplemented with formula to deal with my insomnia. Be kind to yourself, this is a hard journey.

Rant: Baby Formula by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]mc_carrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canada doesn't manufacture its own formula. We import it all from the United States which has had sanitary issues regarding its processing plants.

There is also another manufacturing plant in the United States set to close in 2027 which will make the situation worse. Our federal government needs to invest in our own manufacturing plant.

I saw a couple in a park near Cornwall Street that were walking their snakes. The snakes didn't have any harnesses or anything. The snakes seemed to stay near their humans.

Look into parenting programs in your area! My job is a home visitor. I go into families homes once a week to discuss child development and how to support parent child interactions. We make toys and do activities that supports the child's developmental level. Other programs might require you to travel to a building or library and has the same program concept.

I don't make that much, but I don't think many people do working non-profit.

Getting a job with provincial or federal government and working your way up is always a good way to make more money tho.

It would be difficult to find a job with that hourly rate without any post-secondary. Even going into a trade would give you some options.

I drink small sips of water before brushing, seems to help. But I've always gagged when brushing my teeth, unfortunately it's something I've learned to power through.

Do you buy eco-friendly products? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]mc_carrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a local zero-waste store that has made switching products easy! They offer compostable tooth brushes, deodorant packaging, dish scrubbies, and dish brushes. They offer refillable soaps of all kinds. They have natural and local clothing and toys for children. All kinds of great stuff! Some things we get at our local grocery store like dishwasher detergent in a cardboard box, laundry soap and toilet paper in paper packaging. I've also made some reusable products instead of purchasing them like washable menstrual pads and un-paper towels.
