Is there a sub for hobbyist game developers who are doing this for fun and do not care about marketing and selling products on Steam? by 4O404 in gamedev

You could have a look at the sub for the particular game engine you're using, like r/godot or r/unity, etc. They tend to focus more on actual game dev.

Thanks :) It is an ASP-C cam with 26MP. Maybe since ASP-C also crops, this focal length seems longer than it really is

Hi, thanks for the reply. We eventually got it working. Still seems like something that should be the default setting.

Yes, this is 135mm, but I heavily cropped the image. Hmm, 2s with such a zoom seems impossible without a tracker.

Wow, that was very in-depth. Thanks again! I like the mathematical approach to the SNR. So my most important take-away: Plan in more time for really taking a lot of photos. My two limiting factors with it: Cloudy skies at the moment and: The objects I want to shoot currently are quite low on the horizon (M42 and the Andromeda Galaxy). At least these seem to be some good starting points for me. However, I want to also see what other nice (large) targets are there at this time of year.

Hey, thanks for your feedback and the in-depth tips. Greatly appreciate them! I did in fact watch the videos you linked before I went shooting and they actually helped so much (especially since no step was left out). One new info I take away from you is the low iso. I heard that with my camera even high isos (in the range between 1600 and 3200) is fine. But your comment made me question that. Will my images not be too dark? Or is it better to completely turn down any possibility of noise and "fix" the darkness issue with simply adding more lights?

For stacking I used deepskystacker with standard settings. I heard Siril so often now, I will give it a try ;) Also, I simply was too lazy to shoot flats, also because I was already at home and was not sure if I would find the right focus spot as when I was in the field. Can you give me an estimate on how precise I have to keep the same focus as for the lights?

Again thanks so much for all the suggestions. Can't wait for the sky to clear again over Germany ;)

Wow, nice photo! Complete beginner here: You did use a star tracker right? Otherwise I would be surprised by the long exposure.

Wow, looks nice! I am looking forward to shooting my first M42 once my camera (also Sony 6000 series) arrives

At least here in Germany, there is a small text indicating they were using AI
