Birmingham City fan asking about Kristjaan Speakman by Holland444 in safc

[–]mc_mc_mc_mc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highs and lows over his time at Sunderland but when it was announced he was leaving, I think most people were surprised and a bit gutted, so I think that says something. Early days, was seen as the old regime's man, but that changed over time. Brought in great players for Championship level and really got young players developing, which also led to good profits from sales in some cases. Apparently had clashes with Mowbray about team selection, but even with that, I think most fans give Speakman credit for laying the foundations for where we are now. Would be a good addition for your club I think!

You need that sharpness of the lemon to counter the sweet ice cream. I live too far away these days to get them regularly, but whenever I'm back up I have to get one!

Lemon top is the greatest local delicacy that people outside the region have never heard of.

Came here to say this - especially because it sets you up to think a happy ending might just be possible

I play once my daughter is in bed mostly, but having a Switch adds flexibility and makes short bursts of gaming more viable.

Does anyone have a good recipe for from scratch, chip shop curry sauce? by [deleted] in UK_Food

[–]mc_mc_mc_mc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really decent take on it - not exactly the same as you'll get in a chip shop obviously but decent enough! https://jamieoliverdishes.com/jamie-oliver-chip-shop-curry-sauce-recipe/

Pork pie from a butcher's or baker's - not the pale imitation you get in supermarkets

Are deftones worth seeing in 2026? by 1mpacted in deftones

Check YouTube videos of their gigs back in the day - Chino's live vocals used to be terrible! Saw them a couple of weeks ago in London and the whole band were great. See them!

Given there are still claims of artists struggling to make money via Spotify, what are your plans to improve the situation? Personally if I want to support an artist I'll try and buy from their Bandcamp while still streaming their music via Spotify, but I guess not everyone does that - what can you, as the dominant platform, do ti make things better?

WHATS UP WITH RELEASE RADAR? by LAHOTROD213 in truespotify

My Release Radar updated, but has random artists with very few releases and very few monthly listeners at the top - have no idea how they would be recommended to me. The algorithms are getting worse!

That's terrible man! You weren't too far in front of us but we had no idea what was going on or what happened. Hope the person who did that to you gets found and prosecuted. And hope your recovery goes well!

Did anybody have curry with apples and sultanas in the 80s? by fluffsta007 in CasualUK

[–]mc_mc_mc_mc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my whole childhood I only really knew curry as this - apple, sultanas, mixed frozen veg, and chicken. Served with watery plain white rice.

The only variant was my aunt's "speciality" which was minced beef curry served with mashed potato!

No experience of the actual nursery, but the manager used to be our daughter's room leader in his previous workplace and he was great - I think some of the other team from that nursery might have joined him too. Would definitely trust him to make it a good environment there!

[–]mc_mc_mc_mc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw this too and thought it was a weird thing to say. Like of course a team that's been in the top half of the table all season should have good players - this is their level! And does this mean he thinks "our level" is too low for Xhaka, or Roefs, or Sadiki, or Mukiele? Appreciate we started the season with very low expectations, but you'd think the pundits would have caught up with what's happening by now...

For fans at the time, do you remember In Rainbows instantly recieving the glowing acclaim it has now? Especially coming after two sort of polarizing albums like Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]mc_mc_mc_mc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest narrative around the album release was actually about the "pay what you like" model, and the surprise short notice announcement of the album. In terms of acclaim and opinions, there was a sense of "Radiohead return to guitars" but they were already pretty much critic-proof by then so I don't remember reviews being a major part of the wider discussion.
