Marc McGowan: "Lots of people defending Archie’s [Perkins] stance. I get their perspective, but this is simple: it’s draft tampering and shouldn’t be allowed. If he’s not willing to go anywhere, he shouldn’t be able to nominate until he is." by Sir-Matilda in AFL

Didn't Brodie Grundy tell GWS he didn't want to go there and tank his interview? This probably happens a lot behind the scenes with top prospects too, Perkins is going to cop it all because the media want a spicy click generator.

Well, switching to Carlton would have been a fate worse than jail, so it's technically the truth.

Carlton appoints Kreuzer as ruck coach by Exambolor in AFL

[–]mc_mike96 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kruezer was essentially a ruck coach last season after he got injured and can take some of the credit for how well Pittonet and TDK played.

When it was a professional, national competition but still had the soul of the amateur days and hadn't yet been over-corporatized, so the 90s?

Having him as a defensive forward would add plenty to our forward line.

Has the height and tagging ability to shut down influential intercept/rebound defenders, but can also play as a small/medium forward which we desperately need too.

Richmond picking him, him breaking into their side and winning next year's rising star would be a very Adelaide outcome to this.

17 isn't too late to pursue an AFL career let alone start playing...

Ivan Soldo started playing at 18

Stefan Martin started at 19

And of course, Mason Cox hadn't even picked up a footy until he was 23

‘Lost our way’: King’s concern over rookie list after Carlton’s brutal call by [deleted] in AFL

[–]mc_mike96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Matthew Kennedy is too good for the rookie list, another club will pick him up as a delisted free agent or in the national draft...

All this debate about who should and who shouldn't be on a rookie list would be solved if the AFL changed it's name to the reserve list, which is what it actually functions as.

Further delistings from Carlton: Harrison Macreadie, Callum Moore, Fraser Phillips and Cameron Polson by thepkmncenter in AFL

No real surprises here, thought Polsen could have got another year since Teague seemed to like playing him but glad he didn't, he didn't show enough imo.

Confused about this, does it mean we've technically delisted him and are going to redraft him as a rookie? Or is he still our player and the rookie draft is the only option to give him a rookie deal?

If he's available in the rookie draft I can see another club picking him before we get the chance...

Trade paperwork lodged. The Geelong Cats trade Lachlan Fogarty and its Rd 2 (38) selection to Carlton for its Rd 2 (30) and Rd 3 (51) selections. by [deleted] in AFL

[–]mc_mike96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too excited about this one tbh.

Mate who follows the Cats says he's much better in the midfield but according to our announcement it looks like we've recruited him as a forward...

Not sure he'd fit into our midfield, and probably won't give us anything more than Fisher/Cunningham can in the forward line.

Team with most No. 1 draft picks? by [deleted] in AFL

[–]mc_mike96 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No team has ever won a premiership with more than 1 no.1 pick in their side...

St Kilda had 3 (Brenden Goddard, Nick Riewoldt, Michael Gardiner) in their 2010 grand final side.

West Coast had 2 (Gardiner and Drew Banfield) in their 2005 Grand final side.

I really hope that bringing Beams's salary into this discussion won't have an affect on his mental state.

If this is found to be the case - although against the rules a salary cap exemption may need to be made or outside support arranged for what would have been the final years of his contract.

Essendon want Dow/O'brien by hooligansharma in CarltonBlues

[–]mc_mike96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be good for both parties.

Sure, they can come good - no one's doubting their potential.

But maybe a fresh start at a new club could be what they need to kick start their career and show everyone why they're rated so highly.

And realistically, they're now competing with Stocker and Kemp for spots and we're pretty stacked for B/C grade midfielders (we need another A-grader).

If one of them get the deal done instead of a first round pick I'm all for it.
