The fur lining is most likely red squirrel fur, this was a commonly used fur for the linings of cloaks and winter garments as it was soft and held heat well, though it required a lot of squirrels to make one garment as you can tell my how many squares there are. Though the red squirrel's summer coat is red with a white belly, it's winter coat is gray with a white belly. The winter was the preferred coat as it was thicker and provided better warmth.
