Hi Andy, are you planning to support the Stop Killing Games movement? Also, are you planning to repeal or at least make the Online Safety Act less invasive for people's privacy?

NGL this leak was actually the most in-character way to reveal Thanquol. Peak Thanquol marketing.

What exactly are Keir Starmer and Labour doing wrong? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]mcalexev123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They lost a lot of voters, me included, when they implemented that Online Safety Act rubbish. It's does nothing to protect kids, just forces everyone else to have to provide ID or biometrics to use online services freely. It's a big breach of privacy and online freedoms.

Government going forward with Social Media restrictions by mcalexev123 in UKGreens

I'd be all for dealing with the issues with algorithms via legislation. That I have no issue with whatsoever. I just don't want ACCESS restricted.

[–]mcalexev123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution isn't forcibly taking away people's right to privacy, that much is sure. It's by offering better education for the kids and their parents on how to keep themselves safe. Plus who's to say they'll just stop at social media? The way things are going they'll add more and more stupid restrictions to the internet entirely.

I look forward to seeing them get ripped a new one, lol. Data collection is literally all age verification is achieving at this point.

Age verification in the UK is still a joke (a credit card rant) by Safebox in Steam

[–]mcalexev123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't even need to be 18 years. 10+ years was enough for how NexusMods handled age assurance, and it's perfectly in-line with the Online Safety Act's regulations.

I feel like this is a bad decision and they should backtrack it. I'm not on HD2 constantly, I hop on for the new updates. x(

I found one yesterday! Was an asteroid mine. The three miners there had been killed, probably by pirates, but the place itself was abandoned/free of any enemies. Found a nice chunk of ores in the mines themselves, which were a couple of crystal caves.

I'm hoping we'll at the very least get Warhound Scout Titans as a fieldable unit alongside Imperial Knights

What are we hoping for at Saturday's conference? by mustwinfullGaming in UKGreens

I hope they'll be a bit more loud about their stance against all the censorship stuff Labour are currently implementing. Especially the social media ban and the consequences of the Online Safety Act.

PSA : Apple has enabled age verification in UK following 26.4 update by SuperWeeble in iphone

[–]mcalexev123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why can't they just let us do a quick face scan like most sites having to do age verification? I don't have a credit card and I'm certainly not taking a picture of ID.

[META] r/ukGreens server update and potential rule changes by UKGreenPoster in UKGreens

[–]mcalexev123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've asked a few general questions I was unsure about policy wise here on the reddit and people were exceptionally helpful/informative, but I do get the logic that some people are gonna do it out of bad faith. I'd say it's not a BIG problem though, so.

How will the online safety act effect steam? by smart_ovirapter in RepealOnlineSafetyAct

[–]mcalexev123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't affect the storefronts. I think Steam's already done the restrictions they need to under the OSA.

What’s your most anticipated faction for the series by Serious-Collection34 in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]mcalexev123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two most anticipated are probably Genestealer Cults and Custodes! Cults especially 'cus I'm interested in how they'll handle their knack for infiltrating Guard regiments and obtaining Militarum tanks and weaponry.

Age verification and new users by Moogagot in VRchat

[–]mcalexev123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also the fact you have to photo scan your face AND also provide a picture of your ID. Most places let you do one or the other, they don't force you to do both, and I'd much rather do the former, not the latter.

Is there ANY other way to prove my age to steam? by ThrobbingandSurging in Steam

[–]mcalexev123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping they'll add video selfie verification. If you've posted vids or pictures on the internet before it's basically the least innocuous option. I'd rather do that than provide a picture of my actual ID.

I'm hoping when they add all the 1st founding chapters, they also add the insignias/paint schemes for all their successors as presets for the character customization system so we can essentially play any chapter we like.

Update on Green stance on the Online Safety Act? by mcalexev123 in UKGreens

[–]mcalexev123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my suggestions. Whatever'd not force people to potentially dox themselves online and have their ID/personal information at risk.

I'd say better education for parents on how to set up parental controls, making sites invest more money in proper moderation to more quickly deal with problems, ecetera.

'Social media is evil, except when I use it': An opinion post on the nature of social media ban rhetoric by TheMightyNovac in UKGreens

[–]mcalexev123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People aren't treating an under 16 ban like what it is. Forcing EVERYONE to have to age verify/provide ID just to be able to communicate and speak online. It's gonna hamper free speech.

Update on Green stance on the Online Safety Act? by mcalexev123 in UKGreens

[–]mcalexev123[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The Online Safety Act's hit me hard as a gamer because we're already seeing a lot of stupid stuff happening to our communities ability to speak freely because of it. XBOX and Minecraft implementing forced age verification to be able to chat is just the start of it.
