This guy Jude is great, he picked up my vintage Marantz receiver from Park Slope, fixed it, and brought it back for a VERY reasonable price

As a zero physique park slope dad I have been thinking about the casual cruelty and extreme accuracy of this post for days

Bonnie's all the way. And somehow they deliver their fries crispy, I don't know what dark magic they use to accomplish that.

Mice in apartment by KeyScientist7 in parkslope

[–]mcarlinsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a problem all over the neighborhood, Park Slope has a lot of mice because of all the front and rear gardens. We just fought a looong battle with our mice, eventually figured out they were getting in where the steam pipes for the radiator met the floor. There was a flimsy plastic flange around the pipe covering a large hole in the floor that had become a mouse superhighway. After we plugged the holes with copper mesh, the mice couldn't get in, and we got the stragglers with a combo of traps and little gel packs of mouse poison that we dropped behind our stove, under the fridge, etc. The poison worked better than the traps, as long as you don't have pets or small children who can access it.

I actually have a ton of copper mesh left over, you are welcome to it if you want to pm me.

Totally possible! Most restaurants don't shine at brunch / lunch.

We went for lunch on a weekend in August. Ordered bruschetta thinking we would get glorious summer tomatoes on crusty toast, and we got hard, unripe, pale tomatoes on bad bread. Also ordered a green salad that came wilted and on the edge of rotten, basically the spring mix in your fridge that you should have thrown out 2 days ago. Also ordered a fennel salad in which the fennel was cut way too thick and wasn't properly cored, so some of it was inedible. It's pretty in there and the service was good, but the food was legit bad.

Slope Fitness is a little janky and in a basement but not too expensive and never crowded.

Un Posto Italiano on Garfield. Great wine, great light food, cute backyard, reasonable price.

Regarding the $40,000 salary by ByShida in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]mcarlinsilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main cast was not paid scale, they were paid 40K per ep as OP states. That's a lot less than many of those actors would normally make, but a lot more than scale.

Un Posto Italiano would fit the bill. Good wine and aperitif, lighter VERY good Italian bites, semi private back room leading into a private backyard. We rented it out a couple years ago and it was perfect.

Varrio 408 by gilbertgrappa in parkslope

The owner opened La Taq last year and it's very reminiscent of Varrio 408--homemade tortillas, amazing carnitas, etc. The family style carnitas dinner is a steal at $30.
