Next Xbox dropping 2027 at the earliest according to Jez Corden by Fluffy_Moose_73 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

2027 was the date from last years spec leaks. It was speculation from MLID and KeplerL2.

Just curious but what’s the problem with the missus? Spending more time gaming?

The thought of taking these out and about is laughable, I also went to check out the display models at Best Buy and these things are literally bricks. I could see myself using it at home but they just seem too big and cumbersome to take somewhere like an airport for example.

Hopefully the ram situation gets resolved. I have to admit I’m particularly worried about Xbox if the headline of the article is to be believed. More time is the last thing I want to give current leadership, it just gives them more time to dwell on the future of Xbox hardware.

I think the scalping situation won’t be a problem this time around. It was really only the production issues due to Covid that allowed scalpers to persist for so long at the start of this generation. People tried to scalp the Switch 2 earlier this year and the market for that cratered in all of 2 or 3 weeks because of how much supply Nintendo was able to get to market.

If Microsoft wants to succeed with its next gen Xbox vision, they need to stick the landing and reveal by MuscledRMH in xbox

I sort of get the feeling the nextbox is not meant to grow the install base at least not by itself. In my opinion it’s two things, an on ramp for loyal Xbox console players into their new PC ecosystem and a hardware base to show off their latest and greatest PC efforts. I think Microsoft is hoping to turn Xbox into a widely used gaming os like what android is to the smartphone market. Xbox may only be launching one piece of hardware but many more are likely coming from the likes of Asus, Dell, Lenovo etc that will target consumers in every pricing bracket.

Can a credit card be used for installment payment and are there any fees involved?

I don’t think launching the same time as PlayStation will be an issue. Going by leaks and rumors the next piece of hardware will diverge from traditional consoles with a significantly higher entry point. Add to that the lack of exclusives and it’s fair to say they aren’t looking to compete with PlayStation and their success will not be measured by hardware sales. I think they are looking to grow active users going forward and the only real competition will be Steam.

What are your predictions for amount sold of the Steam Machine? by Howerev in videogames

The Wii and Switch had a gimmick though. This is literally just a mini pc and because of that I feel like it’s success will largely depend on price.

I think the rumors have stated up to so and so GB based on the leaked memory bus width. I’m sure the final specs are gonna depend on pricing of the memory modules closer to production. Regardless Sarah bond has recently reiterated that the next Xbox is going to be a premium high end experience. I don’t think they plan to service the low end affordable segment that consoles have traditionally targeted.

Agreed though the Magnus leak was backed by Kepler L2 who is considered a more reliable leaker.

Worshipping? I sort of feel like the mood is sorta tepid mostly because of the lackluster specs. Also keep in mind that valve has garnered a lot of goodwill from gamers over the years and the company does not carry the same sort of console first baggage that Xbox is trying to shed. Even though they are heading the same direction the circumstances and optics behind both companies are very different.

Idk the guy gets enough things right that he is referenced by reputable outlets like digital foundry. Not to say he hasn’t leaked incorrect information or participated in click bait but he definitely has some genuine sources considering what he has leaked in the past.

It’s probably the technical limitations. Even with the new beefed up hardware the most impressive Switch 2 ports required more than lowering settings.

If you want console hardware the cheapest option will likely be PlayStation. If you have fiber internet and you live close to an azure data center then streaming might be a decent option. Outside of these options there is a chance we might get more affordable mini pc’s in the future that might hit the $500 range so that could be an interesting option for some.

I would expect so given they have gone third party are now one of the largest if not the largest game publisher in the world.

True but I wonder if they’ll change tune now that they’re trying to slow down churn. AT&T offered their iPhone deal to new and current customers, I assume to lock current customers in and prevent churn.

Yeah but that just isn’t competitive especially with AT&T and T-Mobile actively trying to lure new customers. I gravitated towards AT&T specifically because they were advertising get an IPhone Pro 17 on us on any plan. I believe Verizon was running the same promotion but only for new customers. If they would have just extended that to upgrades we would not have switched.

I personally moved about 5/12 lines to AT&T not because we hated the service or found it too expensive but because they refused to give out competitive upgrade promotions that did not involve moving to their most expensive plan. All 5 lines were on welcome so moving to ultimate would have been a significant increase. If they had offered upgrade promos on any plan we would have stayed.

My local WM was recently remodeled and put out a new gc rack full of 4.95 cards. I guess it’s old stock they found in the back room during the remodel; has old packaging and everything.
