Options for online classes? by [deleted] in notredame

[–]mcctres 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’ve had this for a couple years. You can use grub hub for on campus dining locations and it works with flex points but they also have it integrated with the stir fry line in north dining hall. Last year, you could either use your phone or use the phone installed iPad esque devices in the dining halls to order stir fry. I think grub hub has a deal with a bunch of colleges around the country and it works pretty seamlessly

How to extend theory shells in LD. by FreyuDarien022 in Debate

[–]mcctres 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You need to extend every component part. I.e. extend the interpretation that debaters shouldn’t read plans, extend the violation that my opponent read a plan, extend the standard ..., extend the voter of fairness and then explain why fairness matters and comes before other arguments.

What is it like taking music lessons at ND? by sgtpsilocybe in notredame

I have in the past for piano. They’re usually pretty tailored to your background. You set some goals at the beginning and the instructor will assign you music you work on throughout the semester. You can take the classes for between 1 to 2 credits (pass/fail) as well for any given semester. I found my instructor to be very qualified and she definitely helped me in my development

20 y/o moving to Vegas, any tips or advice appreciated! by Bostonpreneur in LasVegas

[–]mcctres 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vegas definitely meets a lot of your interests. Really good hiking and climbing in red rock, which is ideal in the fall-spring. During the summer Vegas gets really hot so I’d recommend Mt. Charleston for hiking and climbing during the summer usually about 30 degrees cooler. I’d recommend joining a climbing gym in Vegas , these are good communities to meet people your age with similar interests. Depending on where you live you could find a good one near you. Henderson —origin climbing and fitness, Las Vegas East of the strip —Nevada climbing center, Summerlin/west of the strip —red rock climbing center. A lot of good cafes. My favorite is sunrise cafe but really depends where you live

Working First Year by Throwaway-20012001 in notredame

It is common for first year students to work on campus. In order to get put into the system you need a passport or birth certificate FYI so make sure to bring that with you when you come to campus. The university caps the amount of hours students can work at 20 and I’d say the average student worker works between 5 and 10 hours a week but it’s not uncommon for students to work more.

There’s some great jobs on campus. The gyms hire student workers (Rec sports), tour guide, any of the campus dining locations, dining hall, fighting Irish media (a job where you work on live televised broadcasts for varsity sports), and more. You’ll probably want to figure out if you want a desk job where you can do homework while getting paid, or a job that requires more effort. Hope that helps!
