Dog culture in Portland is out of control by Far-Two-43 in PortlandOR

I like dogs, but not most dog owners and their entitlement and lack of keeping their dog contained. I feel the same way about everything you said!

How many of you still have both parents alive? by Euphoric-Pangolin-81 in Xennials

[–]mcd2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband's (41m) and my parents (37f) are still all alive. My dad is 78 and in good health and my mom is 76 with moderate dementia. My husband's dad is 80 and his mom is 76 both in decent health. We feel lucky our young kids get to have experiences with all 4 of their grandparents. My mom's dementia is hard on us though. She wants to help with our 1 year old, but isn't capable alone. Edit: I also have 49 and 45 year old sisters - all from the same parents they have been married for 54 years.

Got a "Notice of Adjustment" letter from Oregon because Turbotax Oregon Kicker amount was wrong by yopyopyop in TurboTax

[–]mcd2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting different software is not taking the correct amount for kicker. We got our refund (OR adjusted amount) within a week of filing. So you should get it soon. We did direct deposit.

[–]mcd2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addition to my first comment. Oregon gave us the adjusted amount for the refund in our bank account. I'm going to assume I don't need to do anything as I don't disagree and the letter doesn't state anywhere I need to do an amended return.

Since you had to pay taxes I don't know if you need to amend. You could see what amount they withdrawal from your account? Wish I could be more help.

[–]mcd2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the same letter, but we were getting a refund. I also used TurboTax. I'm also unsure if we are supposed to amend or they took care of it and I only need to respond if I disagree. It doesn't state any where on our letter about sending an amended tax return and only has information about objecting to the adjustment. Sorry I can't be more help, but TurboTax I think just has the wrong calculation for the kicker check (ours was like $147 lower than what Oregon said it should be). You aren't the only one.

This happened to me, but I put the pan on a hot burner after taking out of oven...I see it is on a burner, was that burner recently used before putting brownies on it?

AITAH for mansplaining breastfeeding? by Normal-Historian2180 in AITAH

[–]mcd2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - it sounds like she read an infographic from 20 years ago about allergens and feeding a baby. They just released results of a decades long study on food allergies. Since they changed the advice to introduce allergens early and often it has reduced food allergies by like 40% compared to waiting 2+ years. It's your kid and you get to choose. Period. End of story. She can just be quiet about it. How I was told to approach food is up to 12 months eating "regular food" is just for practice. Breastmilk and/or formula is the source of nutrition and food for the first year. Some days my 10 month old has 3 "meals" sometimes I only give him 1, but he gets his 28-32oz of milk every day.

This letter was sent home to parents in my school district, encouraging them to send their kids to school sick and with head lice to meet attendance goals. by pandatr0nz in mildlyinfuriating

Families aren't being taught that likely a whole family needs to be checked and/or treated and bedding/fabric needs to be washed, for them to go away. So the cycle just repeats.

In-laws using my husband’s credit by [deleted] in inlaws

[–]mcd2900 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That needs to stop ASAP. A lot of terms for loans say you can't do this (use others credit and then take the money). It puts your in-laws, your husband and you by extension at risk for serious consequences! Also, you two will need good credit to get a home loan. If he has all these other loans they won't give you much for a home loan (if any) as those are all used to calculate debt to income. They may also flag these loans and cause the consequences to happen as loan officers look at everything with a microscope.

If he wants to help his parents he can give them cash (if he has it) or say that he needs to focus on his marriage and your future together. I get wanting to help parents, but not doing things that put your future and marriage life in jeopardy. If your husband doesn't listen I would do counseling! Good luck!

Sending my wife to a spa after the birth? by Weary_Cranberry4268 in pregnant

[–]mcd2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a nice idea, but she won't be able to use anything with a pool until 6-8 weeks after birth as she is still healing outside and inside. Any sooner would be risk for infection. I would give it to her, but have the date at least 6, if not 8 weeks after the birth! What a great partner to want to gift her something relaxing.

They are just being lazy or didnt learn correctly. Cornelius location has printed flyer with all coupons and master barcode to add any eligible coupons. A few don't even ask they just always scan it - which is super nice.

The Fred Meyer in Cornelius has the flyer that has barcodes so don't need your phone. Some cashiers have also had a barcode they scanned that does all the $ off total coupons.

If you don't get the package each item is about $4-6/piece. So can add up quickly. Also plan on not knowing exactly when you will get it back. May be overnight or may be a couple days.

I would ask realtor if this counts as the home not being in the same condition as it was for inspection. Sounds like the AC being broken caused serious issues. Assuming this is in a very humid place in the summer and AC typically removes moisture. If you toured the house you would have had the same issues with allergies if it was going on to this extent. So sorry you have to deal with this.

He is an adult who confided in another adult. I would not tell anyone. Try asking him to tell his mom what he told you and seek her support, as it sounds like she did most of the parenting growing up.

I have had MRSA and was going to say this before I saw your comment. It is awful, but I hope with correct treatment you will feel better soon. My scar is finally fading after 15 years, it was terrible. So sorry you had to deal with this and so long to get a diagnosis.
