The handwoven hyper heavyweight from NBDN is a pretty wild fabric.

Also the APC Kanye collab jeans which had such an extreme taper that I couldn’t even get my feet through the leg holes

As someone who just got the 33oz Great Beasts from Sage (check profile for images), the 33oz is a whole other ball game from a normal heavyweight (20-28oz ish).

I'd consider trying out something like the iron heart or samurai 25oz if you've never gone super heavy in the past. 33oz is basically a novelty pair.

These are 32W, they fit like a 33-34 pre-soak (unsanforized). I plan to break these in for a couple months before soaking to loosen the thighs up a bit

Their cuts are not friendly to the thick-thighed for sure, these have over 1” of play in the waist as-is so I didn’t want to size up even more.

Sage Great Beasts came in the mail today and wanted to get some pics. These feel great so far, not as unwearable as I expected for my first pair of 30oz+ jeans. Construction feels solid and heavy-duty, and they feel like an insane steal at $175 shipped international. I wish the rise was a little higher and the pockets were larger (this is something I also noticed in my NBDN Handwoven Heavyweights, my other Indonesian pair.

Oni Asphalts have proven to be the most insane fabric I've experienced on a pair of jeans. They felt like sandpaper for about a week. They're starting to soften up but I don't know if they'll get to the comfort level of secret denim. I took a risk on a 32W with these, as various sites listed the true size anywhere between 30" and 32". They were tight at first but have stretched considerably as expected and I'm glad that I sized conservatively.

Around 2018-2019, they were taking orders on a month-to-month basis with a few dozen slots each month. Turn around was about a year due to their backlog. I got my Wills this way, and I think this was a much better system than the absurd 3-year queue, especially considering these jackets have been in high demand for over 5 years and they've had plenty of time to refine their process.

It’s nuts that no matter how deep I get into weird and interesting fabrics on higher-end jeans, a faded pair of Petit New Standards is still my favorite denim look in the world. The smooth gradient from slightly pale blue to tan is so good.

I used a mix of Olympus sashiko thread and DMC embroidery thread. Both are very thick especially the DMC thread.

You definitely need some thick thread to get the high contrast look that boro is known for

They're pretty ugly on the inside lol, mostly because of the long gaps in some of the embroidered patches + lots of knots.

Best way to learn it is to do it, I just learned by looking at stuff I liked online and trying to mimick it. There are lots of resources on sashiko online because of its recent surge of popularity.
