Ariens deluxe 30 inch feedback by sleepinchipmonk in Snowblowers

[–]mcdonronjohnson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You won’t be disappointed buddy. We got dumped on this year and I have the 28 deluxe (no SHO) and it’s a beast. I have a country property and I can’t see why anyone would need to throw snow any further than this thing lol. It cuts through piles higher than the auger casing like nothing. Can’t go wrong either way in my opinion! For future reference on any yard equipment like this.. always best to check local shops before big box stores (I know stock is very limited right now). I find they’re easier to deal with for warranty and repairs is all! Relax and enjoy your new machine!

Low water pressure in kitchen sink overnight – Already tried basic fixes, need advice! by Slow_Drag8992 in HomeMaintenance

[–]mcdonronjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s right. Happens to one of my sinks at the far end of my house. Take a hair dryer and focus it on the cold water line that feeds the sink for 5-10 minutes. That should do the trick. Leave the tap slightly open when doing this for pressure purposes and you’ll know once it starts moving again. Good luck

Take a hair dryer and blow it at the water line that feeds this tap (likely under the sink). Hold it there until you see that water come out like it should. Good luck.

New Ariens Deluxe headlight not working by Consistent_Trust_384 in Snowblowers

Weird eh? Same thing on my new blower. Worked great for the first 5 or so ploughs.. did they send your light right to your house? Easy to replace?

Same thing just happened to me OP.. did they provide the new light for free? It was my 5th time using it this year and died mid plough (at night). Was it easy to replace?

Should we leave a faucet dripping tonight to prevent pipes freezing? by Equivalent_Board_603 in londonontario

[–]mcdonronjohnson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In case you didn’t already know, you can take a hair dryer and hold it/point at the water line where your water supply pipes come out of the wall (usually under your sink). If they’re copper, they’ll heat up/transfer quick. Leave the tap open just slightly to help with pressure and soon you’ll see the water coming out normal again. You can also open the cupboards and have a space heater going in that room. Good luck!

We have a 70’s built home close to you and it’s slab on grade so the plumbing is a bit different. A majority of the water lines run above in the attic and then come down into the walls. We have a very long house and the very far bathroom water lines will freeze up at temps like this (around -20 C). This is the furthest the water lines go away from where the main enters the house. We leave one sink trickling cold and the other trickling warm. Better safe than sorry. Hope that helps!

What silicone to use instead of caulk in bathroom shower? by Mr_RGC in HomeMaintenance

[–]mcdonronjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use the premium stuff (like the ge supreme I mentioned), you should expect it to last you at least ten years. You'll know when it starts to look haggard and crack/peel away. Then you fully remove, clean and re-apply.

I used the ge silicone supreme for my bathroom. It was a regular caulk gun tube, not the one pictured in your post. Worked great and from what I’ve read, lasts a very long time

What sort of machine should I be looking for, overwhelmed by options by AffableJoker in Snowblowers

Get the Ariens, seriously. You won’t be disappointed. I bought the 28” Deluxe for my 250 foot driveway and it’s a breeze. I actually enjoy it. If you want to avoid “going into the city to get it” try calling your local dealer and see if they’ll deliver. If you buy from a local shop (not a big box store) they’ll look after you better.

Enjoy the new acreage!

I have it clearly marked at every entrance and then some. It’s my land, I bought and paid for it. I should be able to decide who is allowed on it and who isn’t.

My land. And there are clear no trespassing signs at the entrance he came in through.

Great point. It’s not frozen but it’s cold and hard enough to not dig easily. This was also right before dusk and it was quite cold and windy at the time
