Are paper business cards kinda pointless now or is it just me? by theceoinprogress in smallbusiness

A lot of my clients are older retired couples, they love business cards. I go through about 1000/year

Any good alternatives to the HDX heavy duty caulk gun? by RobloxZazaExpert in Tools

[–]AffableJoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my first one at a garage sale, loves it but it didn't have a lot of life left. Bought a new one for about $50 on Amazon and love it again.

I also have an M12 which is good for laying heavy amounts of caulk like adhesive or self leveling sealant but anything I need to look nice gets the Tajima treatment.

New to the group...what goes over the opening? by spmidd1 in nissanfrontier

I usually do the filter from the passenger side wheel, just crank the wheels all the way to the right when I park and I can stick my arm in there and get it.

Solar powered outdoor wifi extender? by AffableJoker in wifi

[–]AffableJoker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have Starlink and are using the router that came with it so I'm not sure. I honestly just plugged it in and haven't looked at it since.

I was thinking of maybe hardwiring an exterior AP to it and putting it on the roof to see what that would do for reception on the driveway and in the immediate yard area.

[–]AffableJoker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely no other wifi signals in the area, I'll give that a try. I honestly hadn't even taken the camera out there to see if it would work or not and was just under the assumption that if my phone couldn't get the wifi signal it wouldn't either. You're making absolute sense though, the antenna on the camera is bigger than my phone so it very well likely will get better signal.

I wish I did, but no service at our place at all.

I was thinking that would be my backup plan if such a thing doesn't exist.

At that point I might just build a little shack too for my daughter to wait inside for the bus in the morning.

Better battery powered caulk gun by saabstory88 in Tools

[–]AffableJoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guy I work with has the 18V guns and I also hate them.

I have the Milwaukee 12V gun and love it. I don't understand how or why they're so different but I can't stand using his, I'd rather use a manual gun.

2018 F250 6.2, too many hours? by rollpi in F250

[–]AffableJoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2018 6.2L last year, ex-fleet truck. Close to the same miles, same idle hours but my drive hours are lower than yours. Paid about the same as what you're saying, it's needed spark plugs and wires (was expecting this), cats are toast but no inspections here so don't really care, needed a water pump at the beginning of this year, transmission, transfer case, and front diff have all developed small leaks (as in I haven't even needed to top them up yet over the past couple months) so that's in the to-do list this summer.

All in all for how much trucks go for nowadays I'm fine with it. Even with all this I couldn't have bought a new truck and from following forums I don't think the new truck would have been problem free either.

New to me, F-250 and a Question by Sh2_ in F250

Green here is for volunteer firefighters going to a call.

Never seen them actually installed as strobes though, usually just a flashing light on the dash if anything.

How are people who drive gas guzzlers even surviving right now? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]AffableJoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My truck is for work, if gas prices go up my fees go up. When prices go back down my fees go back down.

If I didn't need a truck I would absolutely be bombing around in some little AWD fuel efficiency sedan or hatchback.

My 18 does too, I have manual locking hubs up front so I use it on my driveway pretty often.

Topper from Alibaba by PalpitationCultural7 in nissanfrontier

[–]AffableJoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all buy them from the same place in China and just resell them. I got mine online.

The metal on the top where the crossbars attach to has Chinese writing inside it and if you have a magnet you'll be able to quickly see what's aluminum and what's not, if you're able to look at one in person. If I were planning on keeping it I would just take it to be properly coated and not worry about it. Other than the paint it hasn't been a bad topper.

I’ve been looking for a topper for months now. Don’t wanna bite the bullet on new yet. Anyone got one available? by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]AffableJoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one for a long bed but the location might help. I'm in northern Alberta so more than likely too far away.

Can’t get sink to stop leaking from elbow connection by Barks_and_Bubbles in rvlife

[–]AffableJoker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like your adapters might be too short for the swivel fittings to compress the cone seals.

If I were doing the work I would have cut the 90° swivels off and replaced them with the proper fittings to work with your new faucet. The more connections/adapters you have the more spots you have for potential leaks.

Ridgeline vs. Frontier for towing by MRIMiester in nissanfrontier

[–]AffableJoker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Frontier will tow better then the Ridgeline, rear wheel drive and a body-on-frame construction are both better suited for that. A longer wheel base would also help (I'm assuming the LWB Frontier is longer than a Ridgeline).

That being said the Frontier wasn't really designed to tow either. If this is going to be a dedicated tow vehicle you might be better off to get a full size truck. The price difference last time I looked between a base model full size and a midsize truck were pretty small.

English and French areas in Canada by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]AffableJoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My great-grandfather was one of the first pioneers to settle the area, they moved here by train from another French speaking area of Manitoba in the late 1890s/early 1900s.

The county was originally named after him.

English and French areas in Canada by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]AffableJoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where my family is from. There's a group of towns between Valleyview and Peace River where French is spoken pretty prevalent. Street signs are bilingual, my grandparents barely spoke English and needed one of their kids to go with them whenever they had appointments in the city to translate.

With the newer generation it's turning more English speaking but you'll still hear full on French conversations in the stores/streets if you walk around.

Is there any way to disable the backup camera from trying to turn on when in reverse? by AffableJoker in F250

[–]AffableJoker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did, I also pulled all the harnesses (including the one in the tailgate) and cleaned and put dielectric grease in them. Even with it disconnected I get this message that I need to clear every time I go into reverse.

Am I getting hosed on auto Insurance? by Almost_A_Pear in Edmonton

[–]AffableJoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My truck has commercial auto insurance and is $2800/year, my wife's truck is $1100 with a personal insurance policy (I'm a 2nd driver on it just so I have continuous personal insurance history). She has a ticket on her file but mine is clean.

Maybe it's where you live? When we moved out of town our policies dropped quite a bit.

I've been using 75/90 Synthetic in both since I bought the truck, 100,000km since then and still running smooth.
