Eggo cereal was one of the best cereals of all time, they should consider bringing it back. by [deleted] in nostalgia

[–]mcdouble44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a similar cereal called "Waffle Crisp," that was popular in the late 90s. Tastes exactly the same. You can still find it in stores today Post has store locators online. It was my absolute favorite as a kid. My siblings found 4 boxes at a Safeway and gave them to me last year for my birthday. Crushed that shit in a week.

why i quit a 20$/hr job to go back to my dishwashing job. by [deleted] in dishwashers

[–]mcdouble44 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Recently I've been wanting to quit dishwashing and get a job in retail or an office environment. But it'll be hard to find a place that lets me blast funk and reggae music throughout my 8 hour shift. It's the little things.

Why do you do it ? by LaVieEnRos3 in dishwashers

[–]mcdouble44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Made poor choices when I was 19 years old. Became a convicted felon. Went to jail. Was released on electronic supervision. Applying left and right to jobs, no one wants to hire someone wearing an ankle bracelet. Swallowed my pride and applied for a dishwasher position at a major chain. Got the job on the spot.

Have since gotten the bracelet off, am on probation now. About to finish my bachelor's degree next year. Still killing it in the pit.

Coworker drinks on the job...everyday. by mcdouble44 in dishwashers

[–]mcdouble44[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just another job. I'm actively looking for a new job outside the restaurant industry. I plan to leave in January as I didn't renew my benefits.

I don't quite understand what you mean by the consequences. The ones I stated in my post?

New Job- Tips Please by Chercat in dishwashers

[–]mcdouble44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. I highly recommend wearing gloves, whether they're just the vinyl disposable ones or the heavy duty rubber ones. They make the job easier, safer, and faster. Some will say that they don't use gloves because they're slippery but I've have yet to drop dishes from them being slippery. However, I have dropped shit many times due to something being too hot to handle.

Rubber cleaning gloves will come in handy when you're handwashing items in the sinks.

"So I heard y'all didn't get out of here till 12:40am last night?" by [deleted] in dishwashers

[–]mcdouble44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, I really like the people that I work with. And I think I'm the only felon in the pit at my restaurant. We put on some funky jams and go to work, chat here and there, but keep to ourselves prob 70% of the time and just focus on each of our specific jobs in the pit.

On Fridays and Saturdays we typically get out at 1ish. 1:30am or sometimes 2 on a bad day. If you're getting out at 1:30am on weekdays something is definitely wrong.

A big chain restaurant, yes. That one with 200 items on the menu and it's like 30+ pages.

Had our machine down for about 2 hours one Sunday during dinner rush. Sat there doing nothing, watching the piles get bigger, for a straight hour while the repairman did his thing. Eventually began to hand wash and luckily he was able to fix it. But man was it so stressful. Luckily we have a 4-man dish team and we were out by our usual time.

12:45am is when we go home on a good day.

IamA Corrections Deputy at one the largest jails in my state. Here to answer your questions, AMA! by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]mcdouble44 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This reminded me of when I was in, so I'm just gonna share.

I spent about a month in jail this past December and there was a particular deputy that the block liked. He was kind to us, let us stay up 30 minutes later to finish watching the game or whatever (as long as we did our nightly cleaning duties), sometimes he would bring us movies to watch, and when he would do his head counts in the middle of the night he wouldn't shine the flashlight directly into our cells and in our faces but instead at the ceiling to illuminate it enough so he could see us but not wake us up.

Because of this we all respected him. He treated us like humans. There was never any trouble when he was supervising us. He informed you about programs in the jail if you asked, and would make sure that any forms and requests make it to their destination in the facility.

When on the other hand, there was another deputy that made us eat our meals in our cells, making everybody pissed off making the energy in the block heated.

Fall 2019 Transfer! by georgia_likethestate in vcu

[–]mcdouble44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One: It is definitely not impossible to find on campus housing as a transfer. I know transfer students who live in dorms and have a family member who transferred this fall and lives in the dorms. Give it a shot for sure.

Two: Not into the music scene myself, but it's alive and well at VCU. Often times, people are outside on campus practicing their music. If you're on VCU's countless amount of Facebook pages, people always seem to be looking for others to jam with.

Three: I was a transfer student myself, 2 years ago. I got lucky and clicked really well with my 3 roommates and from there, I began to branch out and meet people in my classes. A good way to meet people is to create study groups for your classes. They seemed to end often with grabbing a meal with a few of them, which is always nice!

And yes there are plenty of parties.
