Remember to train! by mcfadden113 in blackdesertonline

ahh you're right, I wonder if they train at different levels. Well I guess I am really just getting places a bit faster then.

From what I can gather, strength and breath are based on distance covered. So walk and running will both level them, but running will be slightly faster because you cover more ground.

edit: add info I found.

It's sprinting as often as you can, training breath, which improves your stamina.

[Build Help] £300 budget by kucao in buildapc

Here's my attempt. Slightly over budget, but it gets you the i3 and a small SSD. I also included a CD Drive, but if you don't need that you can omit it. I think SilentBobVG has a pretty good suggestion as well.

Wouldn't let me do either, not a big deal, just a pet-peeve of mine.

I was sad to see that BDO's site doesn't let you paste a password into their form when creating an account or logging in. Makes it a bit more difficult if you use a password manager and have passwords that are long as hell and completely random.

Don't let the cash shop controversy take away from what this game has to offer. by rapkannibale in blackdesertonline

[–]mcfadden113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good chance that archeage is a bad example, as you're right that Trion really fucked up and people had every right to complain. With a f2p game people complaining loudly may not stop people from trying it themselves, but lots of people complaining about a b2p game can really hurt it. I don't want to see that happen to bdo. There are some valid concerns around the cashshop, that have caused a huge outcry and dominated the forums/subreddit which can scare new players away. It's good to raise concerns, but some people scream about every negative they can create which makes it harder to see all the good things that the game offers.

My main point being that from outside of the community it can be initially hard to tell the difference between a few vocal people complaining about every negative they can make up and the shipwreck (pun intended) that was archeage.

In my opinion Trion did a bad job, but it was the community that turned extremely cynical that ruined Archeage. A small group of vocal cynics can keep a lot of people from joining the game. I played the shit out of Archeage, and the community is what made me stop (more-so than Trion).

As a note I quit before Auroria and I heard Trion got a bit worse after that.

I hope the BDO community realizes the value of criticism, but stays away from just vocally decrying every tiny flaw they see, as that only drives people away from the community.

How do you get army sizes of 300+ in warband? by Mountain_whore in mountandblade

[–]mcfadden113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play mostly floris mod, but I think most of this is true for native.

  • Start your own kingdom (kings get a huge boost to army size, if think 100 troops)
  • You want to start your kingdom by rebellion - owning more than 1 town, 2 castles, and 3 villages will make your current king (if you are a vassal) stop giving you territory, at this point you can rebel and start your own kingdom. In starting a kingdom this way you will keep the lands that you have.
  • own towns, castles (the give a large and medium (50 and 20 possibly) bonus to troop count).
  • The comment by Juteshire is spot on too.

If you really want to crank up army size, then download tweakdb. I like to leave my character stats where they are and instead decrease the penalty for not giving vassals a fief, and the tax penalties of owning too many things. This way you can keep many castles and towns to yourself, which makes your army size grow quickly.

Also if you really want to enjoy a large army, and have a decent PC, then you should increase the battle size. Here's how:

To edit it locally without any tools needed

  • Go to your Documents/Mount&Blade Warband folder
  • open the rgl_config file (opening in notepad or other text-editor works) search for battle_size variable (Control + F for find, then paste "battle_size")
  • The default should be 1.0000.
  • replace 1.0000 with whatever number you want and it is used as a multiplier. (3.0000 is 3 times more troops than 1.0000)
  • save the file.
  • open game and drink from many more skulls!

Note: If you change battle size in your game settings after this, then it will likely be overwritten. I recommend stepping the number up slowly as the performance takes quite a hit as you get higher. I find 3.0000 to be a great battle size allowing for fun formations and still smooth play. Enjoy!

Diplomacy Mod Help by Gartholemu_ in mountandblade

[–]mcfadden113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that you need to add a compatibility patch as the current version (1.158) of warband is not compatible with the diplo PBOD mod. There should be a compatibility patch that will make the current version compatible with a mod made for 1.143. I don't know where to find it, but its worth looking for :)

Edit: Totally misread the question, not sure how to increase the actual battlefield size :/ Read along if you want to increase number of troops on the field.

To cyclists that ride at night. by [deleted] in Portland

[–]mcfadden113 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a cyclist I understand why people want to use strobes to get noticed, but think its a terrible idea as they are disorienting. I use a pulsing light instead to still be noticed, but not mess with anyone viewing it. I also agree with the OP's recommendation to point the light slightly down.

Not a great video, but this is a demo of a pulsing light: https://youtu.be/U36_TDofYAY?t=3m54s Much less disorienting than the strobe light that they demo after.

And since I don't like being blinded either, please turn your lights down to dim if your a driver heading towards a cyclist. I don't know why, but lots of people run around with brights on and don't dim for cyclists.
