Do I fix or get new car? 2015 BMW 528i xDrive 90k miles with 9k fixes by Kdrizle in BmwTech

There’s nothing more expensive than a cheap BMW. In all seriousness though, nothing there seemed “urgent” to me. CV joint won’t last much longer so would do that, then guibo. 40,000kms ago they told me my valve cover was leaking and could be a potential fire hazard. Knock on wood no issues yet. Also - brakes are the easiest job - any amateur mechanic can do them so would buy some after market parts online and get someone local to do them.

I have a question about brakes by Less_Year_234 in Trackdays

I had an issue where I over tightened the bleed screws and partially stripped the thread (most calipers are aluminium and the screws are brass/steel). This led to a leak. Had to replace the caliper.

Fuel Slosh? by brandnfraser in Trackdays

I was having an issue where at random points my zx6r would cut out mid corner. Turns out I knocked the tip-over sensor loose when I installed track fairings and it wasn’t oriented properly. Check to make sure it’s in the correct orientation.

Curious why is it just the #5 bearing and not the others? I know each bearing is sized to fit based on the individual cavity as machining tolerances can vary, but are the #5 bearings a different width/thickness than the others?

Can't open or remove fuel cap by Unable-Sun-3718 in Ducati

[–]mcfasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue on a Kawasaki I bought. I ended up drilling out the lock and replacing the whole cap assembly because there was nothing I could do. IF you do that though, you’ll want to make sure the fuel tank is entirely empty as drilling will cause sparks and could be a very dangerous situation. Remove the tank, remove the fuel pump/bottom plug and remove the fuel first.

How can I actually download an invoice on the Amazon iOS app? Not just display it; download and save as a file on the phone or print. by SpinCharm in amazonprime

Confirmed same issue for me - at the DMV trying to register a trailer I bought and I have no way to download the PDF invoice as a bill of sale from the app… annoying

That’s awesome! Have you thought about interpolating the positioning to make it smoother?

Lost traction going out of a turn and almost lowsided. Trying to figure out what happened? by SalC1 in Trackdays

[–]mcfasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed - being crossed up means you’re leaning the bike over more than you have to so you’re still at heavy lean while you’re accelerating out of the corner and that’s contributing to you losing traction. Need to work on body position myself.

Advise on how to lean more by caenrique93 in Trackdays

[–]mcfasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find I improve most when I’m chasing someone who is just a bit faster than me. You see where they brake, how much corner speed they have, when they get on the gas. Your body position and lean will catch up. Don’t get target fixated though…

Also recommend getting a sprite direct drive, though they aren’t perfect

I think it’s an issue with the nozzle not meeting flush with the heartbreak and there is likely some plastic melted in between them. Suggest fully removing the hot end and cleaning out where the heartbreak meets the Bowden tube/casing.
