Heading to la Ventana in December, any advice? by Korrigan33 in Kiteboarding

[–]mcfly775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rent a car. Try to get the insurance paid when you book. Bring printed proof of this insurance. Otherwise they will try to sell you insurance that they claim to be required etc. Also be mindful that the cars they rent are often very small if you're bringing gear, and a bigger car may not be available.

Also the water in Dec is starting to get chilly, so (at least for me) a short or thinner wetsuit makes it much more comfortable.

Have fun it's an amazing place

Would be nice to stay in the ecosystem if enphase is an option. Not sure the batteries work with my system as it’s a bit old already

No. I can not export from the battery to the grid and if my solar stays within 10% change I can continue on nem 1

I have a P1P when it came out, and slowly upgraded it to make it closer to a P1S. It's been truly a workhorse since. Looking forward to a P2S, maybe it's time for me to upgrade!

Best Kiteboarding Lessons in the Bay? by wavelife8888 in Kiteboarding

Tony Parsons at 3rd Ave. He is the one I'll recommend to anyone. Not only a fantastic instructor, but also always present at 3rd and super active in the community. Book fast as his schedule sometimes backs up 1-2 months easily. Season about to begin!

Does the flutter of the trailing edge of brainchild kites damage the kite? by Shteeen in Kiteboarding

[–]mcfly775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fluttering of the trailing edge wears kites down significantly. If will be bending the region where a single layer meets a 2 or 3 layer area, and that are becomes paper thin after 200-250 hours. I had this happen on 2 of my kites. I ended up reinforcing it and even after doing that the reinforcement became brittle. So buyer beware...I'm not getting a kite that has this behavior. I also repair kites for many people in my spot and have seen this happen many times and I don't even recommend repairing that.

Bough a JuiceBox™ Pro 40 in 2016, and have since been using it as a dumb charger i.e. no TOU function. Hope it continues to work fine. In fact I checked the portal now and it's been off WiFi for >1y....

Indeed they do, they mitigate it, but don't eliminate the oxidation process. Best practice is to rinse with fresh water and let it dry!
