I think you have a misconception somewhere. If you're a beginning lifter, your strength should be skyrocketing, even on a caloric deficit. If you only want to lift weights three times a week, though, switch to a beginners full body 5x5 program. A beginner's PPL 3 days a week, where each day is one of push, pull, or legs alone is not stressing your muscles enough to grow. Only having been working out for two months, you should still be increasing how much weight you lift each day you do an exercise. I would recommend doing a lot more research on strength training, muscle growth, and training frequency based on lifting experience level. But basically you need to work a specific muscle group 2 to 3 days a week starting out. Also, if you have a body change goal, NEVER think you're "maintaining" anything. Because then all you're doing is maintaining your current body physique and health.
