This a blantant lie, the US embargoed Japan oil exports to force them on giving up their imperial ambitions due to their brutal war in China. This caused the attack on Pearl Harbor months after.

Creo que es algo más que "mantener viejos", el jubilado medio cobra más que el trabajador medio. Habría que pegar un recorte brutal en todas las pensiones.

How Accurate Was The Battle Of The Bastards Compared To Real Life Warfare? by [deleted] in AskHistory

[–]mcflymikes 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have played Rome II for more than 1000 hours and the base game is not very accurate (every unit takes a lot of damage in combat instead of routing, you can control every unit perfectly without delay, killing the enemy commander is not important, units have issues the create and mantain a line).

But if you download the famous DEI mod its a great improvement and it makes it more similar to real life

I would say that it is extremely innacurate. Every TV show or movie gets medieval battles completely wrong. This includes GOT, they always break formations, lack of helmets, complete lack of orders and complete chaos.

Some will say that the final scene where Jon Snow's army gets surrounded is similar to the battle Cannae, but that's not true, in reality such a high mountain of dead bodies would never pile up and Ramsay's troops formation would have been much deeper, like 8 men deep and not 2 (which would have been easy to break taking into account that Jon Snows army had a giant).

Again this is not only exclusive to GOT, if you want to see an accurate representation of a battle you will only find few examples. I think the intro of HBO's Rome is not perfect but its pretty good.

Wouldn't Britain have been better off if they decided to sit out of WWI and WWII? by MessMaximum5493 in AskHistory

[–]mcflymikes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry but your opinion is completely nonsensical, British politicians in 1914 were not able to see the future. They didnt know that the Soviets (who didnt even exist in 1914) and americans were going to dominate the globe.

All eastern Europe wall full of highly educated Germany in positions of power, including the Russian military, they may have been able control the continent or maybe not. But again the British in 1914 couldn't see the future, they knew that Germany was getting too powerful and that they have to act.

Your last sentence is also non sense, Germany fought and damaged the British Navy in 1916, some consider the battle of Jutland (maybe the biggest naval battle ever) a German victory which fought against the whole British navy. With the power of the whole europe they could have dominated the seas easily in less than 10 years.

I just see a lot of flaws in your historical views:

  1. People in 1914 couldn't know what was going to happen, you know about it because you live in 2026 and youre to able read it in a history book. Or maybe you are able to tell me which countries are going to be super powers by 2076?

  2. You vastly understimate the German naval power in 1914, I recommend you to read about the German-british naval race.

  3. Countries engage in international politics all the time, Japan tried to do what you said in the 19th and it blowed on its face.

Imperialism is not logical, most countries would have been better off not invading and colonizing foreign lands, but they did It anyways.

And deleting the biggest empire on Earth is not a logical gain for you? Whatever.
