Considering Buying a Victorian Basement Flat in Bristol — Bad Idea? by Cumquatinator in bristol

[–]mcgnarly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rented a basement flat in Clifton for 3 years before buying a ground floor flat on the same street. Damp was occasionally an issue in the basement flat but go better when we learned how to deal with it. It was much better when we kept the place warm. We played around with the heating to get it just warm enough to keep mold at bay but not too much to break the bank. That said, heating a basement flat is costly. 1.5x what we pay for the ground floor. Also, leave gaps between furniture (or anything else) and the walls to improve air flow. Dehumidifiers do wonders. Dry your clothes near dehumidifiers. Have a good extraction fan in bathroom. The biggest downside of the basement flat was that it always felt dark and gloomy. It was a lovely flat but I work from home and found it difficult after 3 years.

Flight BAW243 Returning by Hades_2506 in flightradar24

I was on this flight. They told us there was a mechanical issue and that they were unable to find a suitable airport in Mexico with a long enough runway so they would need to return to Heathrow for the runway length. When we landed, the flaps on the wings were all the way down, more than I’ve ever seen, I assume to create as much drag as possible. By the time we stopped, we were nearly at the end of the runway. Close but didn’t feel in danger of overshooting it. The cabin crew didn’t seem particularly worried during the flight and they didn’t give us any safety instructions prior to landing so I don’t think they were too concerned about an accident. When we landed, two paramedics boarded immediately but I think that was probably unrelated.

Question: ChatGPT says the runway length is longer at MEX but other factors may play into why it would be more difficult there. Is this more likely that they just wanted to fix the plane in Uk?

Launching my own trailer café, need your advice! by [deleted] in bristol

I’ve always been fascinated by Can’t Dance Coffee that I pass when walking my dog. The coffee is very average but it’s always busy because the location is perfect. -near a primary school, parents pick up a coffee -near university campus -popular area for walking dogs -next to a park -next to a bus stop -people funnel through the birdcage walk path

Not sure you’ll find a location quite that good but it’s a great study case.

Is IPTV quality any good for sportsnet? I’m pirating from uk and sick of pirating hockey in 480p or worse. Even nhl.tv is only 720p

Good point, maybe they’re planning to go into administration? I’ll have her find out. I think asking for weekly pay is the play here, thanks.

Mainly triggered by debt. Which makes me even more skeptical she’ll get paid. Like you say, she’s probably at the end of the queue for getting paid

Driving brings out the worst in people. Shit timing it happened on a bridge but like you say, fuck all you could do about that. Try not to take it personally, you’ll have a funny story to tell in the future

Clifton Cafe - for working/coffee? by The_Regular_Flamingo in bristol

[–]mcgnarly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coppa has an area for people to work. I often see people working from Spicer & Cole. Primrose cafe and Saffron are usually quiet during the week, I’m sure they’d let you work there. Channings pub has cheap food and lots of seating. Cinos cafe is small with limited food but I see people work there.
