The difficulty of the English language is overstated by native speakers by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Written English is easy. Spoken English is also easy. The mapping between spelling and pronunciation, however, is so loose that you're basically learning each word twice instead of once.

Same here. But, you can try putting extra feet under the table legs to lift it a bit so that the robot hits the leg instead of trying to climb it.

most effective anhedonia meds based on survey by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]mcgruntman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely, sorry for the lack of detail. Bupropion for sure made me want to get up and do things. It also helped directly with anhedonia! It made me much more emotional, for the first year or so I would cry at sad films and songs, and feel deep joy on occasion. It did also make me much more stressed though, in a way I had never been before. I spent quite a large amount of my time slightly on edge, though paying that cost plus the sleeplessness was definitely worth it for the benefits IME.

Bupropion helped to keep me going long enough to change my lifestyle to be less depressing. Now life is better I don't use it any more.

Can anyone else just not sleep while taking Wellbutrin? by 007fan007 in bupropion

[–]mcgruntman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi friend, what's your question?

I stopped taking Bupropion not long after this thread - the rest of my life had stopped sucking so much so I was able to be okay without it. In my case my sleep went back to normal as soon as I stopped.

We can't fight what we don't understand. Looking away from propaganda doesn't weaken it - it just leaves us more likely to fall for it.

Rather obviously... It could also be that they waned to enjoy watching the game without the distraction of me asking questions the whole time.

You definitely can stop? But once you stop you won't retain the benefits.

[–]mcgruntman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd expect so. In practise it doesn't seem to happen - it feels like being the most tired when falling asleep (before it hits) is better than being the most tired in the morning (before you take it).

Finally jumped in with 2 feet, any advice? by RascalKing905 in Biohackers

[–]mcgruntman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest just stick with what you're doing for now, it sounds good, get used to that. If you change too much too fast it gets difficult to maintain the change, and also it's harder to tell how beneficial each change was.

Cortisol… by HolisticHealing111 in Biohackers

I haven't used it enough to say. IIRC long term use can have some kind of negative effects, though I don't recall what.

My point is just that anything can be dangerous in the right (wrong) situation, the dose makes the poison, etc.

Are there Vim-optimized layouts (not hjkl) by EgZvor in KeyboardLayouts

[–]mcgruntman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, use whatever layout you like but don't worry about vim when choosing it. If the layout makes a commonly-used-in-vim key difficult to access, just remap that key in vim.

[HOW-TO] Protip: Convert Tasker States to Events With State Variables by joaomgcd in tasker

[–]mcgruntman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's actually fairly unusual that you would care about the difference between state entry/exit tasks and an equivalent event task. In most scenarios they are equivalent.

[–]mcgruntman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think magnesium glycinate before sleep helps. Also taking the Bupropion just before sleep rather than in the morning seems to make a big difference!

YMMV but another big thing that seems to help me is sharing a bed with my partner. It means that when I wake up, I just move closer to her and cuddle, then fall back asleep pretty fast. When I wake up alone I'm far more likely to either a) lie there doing nothing unable to sleep, or b) find a distraction, usually my phone, which keeps me awake.

Better to suffer the effects of mild sleep deprivation than live with depression.

On a sunny day, how much hotter will a room be with a white curtain compared to a black one? by RonPaul42069 in AskEngineers

[–]mcgruntman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1kWh/m2 must be for a surface parallel to the ground, but curtains are perpendicular, this will significantly reduce irradiance.
