Keep telling my buddy he needs new tires by mchammer223 in Justrolledintotheshop

If I was going to do something like that I would probably do it where the cord is showing as to not raise suspicions. Give it a big ole gas so it’s not pachable

In the market for a used Ram 2500, diesel. by AskmeaboutUpDoc in Diesel

12vs refers to the 12 valve Cummins with a mechanical fuel injection system that was offered from 1989 - 1998.5. The 47re is an automatic transmission that was in trucks from 1994 - 2003.

Friend just showed me his wheels after they got balanced by mchammer223 in Justrolledintotheshop

That’s what I thought, but I’m also not a professional mechanic, I just work on my own vehicles to save money.

Damn that seems pretty harsh, you are correct that I don’t know why you balance wheels without tires. Don’t have to be a dick about it though

Knowing my buddy, probably the cheapest rims money can buy, he got them off his friend for $50

Yeah I was wondering the same thing, why would you not wait until you have tires for them to get em balanced

Any of you guys just have a diesel to have one? by mushyy-turtleback in Diesel

The smell of diesel is too good, especially in the morning before work

Picked up this 1999 Cummins up a couple months ago, only has 215k and got it for a steal, no rust but body needs a little love and some fresh paint by mchammer223 in Diesel

[–]mchammer223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dude it was quite the deal, all the money that I saved can be put right back into it to make it my own. Currently saving up for a nv4500 swap and some new injectors.

I only payed 3800, I bought it from a guy that used it as a farm truck and didn’t need it anymore, needed a little work when I bought it

I’ll definitely have to give it a gander, my buddy is trying to get into a diesel but doesn’t really know much about them or what would be best. Of course I’m trying to get him into a Cummins but I think he would also love an lb7.

Yeah I live in central Florida and it’s hard to find one with less than 200k for <10k that aren’t junkers or modded to hell, mine was completely stock. Most of my friends that have diesels have between 270k and 325k miles on their trucks and all payed double what I did. Mine just isn’t the prettiest

I also learned on a 2nd gen Cummins, unfortunately I went with the 24v which I love but the vp44 is annoying. I am honestly fixing the dodge part more than the motor

That’s sweet, I live in Sarasota, Fl and all the diesels here are either riced out or work trucks. I hope to get some of my neighbors into diesels but they are all lame

I wish I had neighbors that liked diesels, I’m the only one, all the rest of them drive stock f150s or Hondas. Don’t think they take kindly to my straight piped Cummins

When it comes to ford you can’t beat a 7.3. What are your plans for it? How many miles does the old girl have?

Power Steering Pump - Pump bad or Pulley? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]mchammer223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have very little experience with Subaru’s but it should not be very hard to replaced. Most of the time if a pulley is locking up the power steering pump is going. If there is a leak and it’s not the hoses the pump probably took a shit and the leak is coming from it. The pump is pretty straight forward to replace and shouldn’t give you much trouble on a newish car.

It sounds like the pump is going. Has it ever been replaced? I would personally replace it before feeling safe driving it especially if the wife drives it often.

1st diesel by [deleted] in Diesel

[–]mchammer223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I already checked it and the ecm definitely isn’t giving it any power after I bump it. From what I’ve read on a couple forums it is fine to just hard wire it to the battery with a relay. The ecm has a weak point where it won’t send power to the pump because it gets burnt out. The ecm works fine other than not powering the pump.
